Ed, what's happening with Sess

Is he going or not

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed024's Note - Good question - if you'd asked a month ago I'd have said he was definately off, whispers of him not liking PDC's tough approach, family still not settled, and rumours of approaches from French and Asian clubs, etc etc. But the rumours have dropped off and he must be impressed the quality of the new signings. With Graham going and PDC not apparently looking for another forward I'm starting to think Sess may be staying.}

Agree with ed on this one sess didn't look out of place at all playing off altiodore seems a lot fitter and looked like he was enjoying him self craigsafc

RATTLED BY SUNDERLAND

It started with the appointment of Paolo Di Canio - the immediate bounce was to be expected, but damn it, the nutter saved them from relegation. Iconic touch line celebrations are transmitted around the world, how could we lose so heavily at home to 'them' - annoyance and humiliation in equal doses.
The whistle heralding not the end, but the beginning of the richest season in Premiership history still echoes as Sunderland appoint Valentino Angeloni as chief scout. 'Not sure who he is, but I don't like the sound of his Inter and Udinese connections, never mind the rest of Europe'. 'Well don't worry, we've got Alan Carr's dad'.
Two directors of football are then appointed. The first is a case of 'poacher turned game keeper' as licensed FIFA agent and financial guru Roberto Di Fanti is appointed at the SOL. News breaks that he was instrumental in the appointment of P Di C and Angeloni - 'b*******, maybe they do have a grand plan, this is looking serious'.
The second is a complete fantasist, who's appointment represents an own goal the likes of which has not been seen since 1991 when Gerald Ratner described his own companies jewellery as 'total crap'.
Three Bosman signings arrive at Sunderland very early, apparently not suggesting that they must have been specifically targeted for some time, but rather, whilst acknowledging that they are an improvement on the current squad, 'they still wouldn't get into our team'. Then, despite having a young French starlet stolen from under their noses, fans remain philosophical in an amusing if not predictable way - 'well at least we had the first Ba'.
'They've signed who?! Giaccherini and Altidore! Two internationals! Doesn't our owner realise you get £63 million just for finishing bottom this year?!'
'Reet that's it. I'm not playing second fiddle to Sunderland any more. I knaa we've won nowt since 1955 but I've had enough of this mickey taking like. Who the hell do they think they are? We are the biggest club in the world with 4 trillion fans and that's just in Outer Mongolia, way man even wor groond in the toon is a cathedral and wor fans are an army like'.
'Now listen sonny, that's a Shetland Pony'.

Hi eds do you know if colbacks problems are to do with playing time or playing possition? Personally I feel he could be one if the best full backs in the league with a bit more experience (proved this keeping pienar and baines quiet at sol), makes a better fullback than cm anyways. Thanks!

Believable7 Unbelievable2

{Ed024's Note - The only info I've had is that he wasn't happy with the improved terms he was offered - no mention of playing time or position - but to be fair he'll need to be prepared to play where and when he's needed. I can still see him staying}

24 Jul 2013 19:32:45
Apparently Di Canio wants a LB, RB, and a creative forward

Opened talks with Cissoko's representatives
Peruzzi could still sign after the Tournament, apparently he is in perfect condition
PDC seems hell bent on getting Insigne, even though its unlikely anything can happen the way this Pre Season is going

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Higuin just signed for Napoli. stakes have gone up on insigne. just a matter of how much and will we pay it

Agree4 Disagree1

Perfect continues but fails a medical? Give your head a shake.

{Ed024's Note - Failed one but passed another - most confusing transfer of this window by far.}

Newcastle fan here in peace.

I watched the game today. I must admit I was impressed.
People were saying your a new QPR me included but I retract that statement as your nothing similar your a making of a good team. Your players are not at the club for the money and actually playing for the shirt.

People were also saying your team won't gel, well if that's them not gelling your going to be an awesome team when they do. They looked like they have been playing together for years.

You were also saying you will be the fittest team in the league. Well on that showing you may be right. A swindon fan told me dicanio will have sunderland super fit and that you will win games in the latter minutes because of fitness.

I must admit i'm jealous and worried we will struggle and you will do well. Were a mess. You are playing with a game plan. Organised. fit. strong. dangerous going forward. strong in defence.

Cabral looks good. Wes brown is awesome if you keep him fit. Altidore altho wastefull spurs couldn't handle him. Your whole team just seem fit and strong.

Finally before my fellow toon fans question who I support I am a Newcastle season ticket holder and I may be sounding too complimentary but i'm just honest.

Sunderland are on the up. Unless we sign Remy or someone similar we will be left behind.

Believable16 Unbelievable2

Thank you for an honest appraisal - that could not have been easy. I agree with your observations.

Agree12 Disagree0

Nice 2 hear ya honesty mate, although not the finished article I think we r getting there under di canio, still need 2 fullbacks tho. Jarra makem

Agree11 Disagree0

It's really nice to see someone that talks with there head and not there heart we are no where near the finished article but we showed a lot of promise today on a very poor pitch due to the rain of course but we tried to play football for the full game no lumping it up front no bit an hope passes all our new singings that played looked exceptional and my highlight of the game was how well brown played all in all I'm more excited for the season than a was 24 hours ago craigsafc

Agree9 Disagree0

Good post I agree with everything said and believe it will only get better than it was today. I also agree that Newcastle need strikers in or they will struggle to score goals next season. Maby even two if Cisse goes.

Agree6 Disagree0

An honest assessment from a mag (I think) very refreshing, we played well and were deserved winners on a very difficult pitch. we are not getting carried away though it will be a very difficult season again, but based on that performance we look like we will at least compete with teams something we rarely did for most of last season, looking forward to the start, we can have a good season maybe even be entertained, now that's exciting.

Agree6 Disagree0

It seems that things are looking up at Sunderland. It is still early days and could still go all wrong, but I somehow very much doubt it. Thanks for your honesty it is refreshing.
In a similar vein, I have to say that untill you get rid of Pardew and Kinnear you will be open to a lot of banter from the likes of me. Untill they go, you are going to struggle. I feel sorry for the sensible, true fans of Newcastle, but not the persons. (We have persons too of course. )
Being a true fan through thick and thin is very hard. Blind faith is ridiculous, they need to go.

Agree6 Disagree1

A great conclusion ny magpie chum. thank you

Agree5 Disagree0

Liked the look of young Karlsson!. think hell go on to play for the senior Swedish team soon!. get Guidetti on loan. be good pairing up front!

Think we were very impressive today. Looked organised, still need solid left and right backs. I thought cabral deserved man of the match. Him a Larson worked well in the centre together as cabral sat a little deeper. For once we actually have a centre mid who can pass. Johnson and Sessegnon looked like the players they're supposed to be. Thought Johnson basically ran rings around rose. All the new lads looked impressive.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Thought our left back had a better game then the spurs left back who is apparently worth 8m, give the left back to jack colback had a great game today, what do you think ed would like your opinion?

just one question for all sunderland fans can anyone say for certain that they actually heard or saw pdc say the Peruzzi deal is dead I find it a bit strange that only sunderland echo stated this

Believable4 Unbelievable0

He said its on "HOLD"

Agree4 Disagree1

I watched his interview he said we are not man city who can buy players and wait fir them to be fit. We need players for now to be in the team now

No mate he said there is no way he can sign for us at the moment

HT 1-1 v Spurs.
Ironicslly, their goal shows just why we desperately need a dedicated left back and our goal why we probably don't want Huddlestone!
Very, very encouraging performance so far on a shocking pitch

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Excellent win against quality opposition. All three goals were class, but mind Moberg Karrlson looks a bit special. Haway Paol03 Lad!

Agree5 Disagree1

Mag in peace - Watched the game and Ok its not spurs first team, but I still thought you lot played well especially considering you had two natural mids as your full backs. Cabral looked like a good player and Sess looked happy to be playing again.

I know its early days but Altidore is showing what he showed at Hull. couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo today. Luckily you had lots of players waiting to put the ball in the net for you, unlike us.

Agree8 Disagree3

Please, no more silly posts about the lads not gelling with all the changes. I think Paolo's put that one to bed!

Agree2 Disagree0

Much better movement than last season, Cabral looks good, we look fit, seems promising but won't get too carried away yet, Altidore missed some great chances, but the pitch was terrible.

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree with everything you said Altidore got in the posistions but couldn't find the net

7SAFC7

Agree1 Disagree0

I think he just rushed himself a bit, remember he is still still young and if he calms down a bit he will knock them in left right and center. Safc93

Agree1 Disagree2

Give Altidore a break for Gods sake.
Not the real Spurs team?
Not the real Sunderland team either.
Much better oppsition than the Mags have been up against.
Roll on.

Agree2 Disagree3

Altidore might have missed a few chances, but I remember another centre forward for sunderland who missed a few chances when he first came here (while still being able to get into position to miss) he went by the name of Kevin (super Kev) Philips, and look how that turned out FTM.

Agree2 Disagree0

Don't worry about Altidore, he didn't score today so what!

He has an amazing work ethic, when someone puts himself about as much as him, rewards will come
My coach always said
"If you work hard for the team, the team will work hard for you"

Agree3 Disagree1

Good job it wasn't danny graham

Agree2 Disagree0

I remember Quinns first game. He missed a sitter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Time to tell the groundsman to leave the sprinklers on overnight at the SOL for games next season.

Agree3 Disagree0

To be fair to Jozy he only missed one sitter when he thought he was offside, wasn't and scuffed the shot. Turned well for the one he pulled across goal.
Great energy, good link up play.
Interesting the mags seem less inclined to comment on the performances of Cabral, Ba, Karllson and Jacko - wonder why?

Agree3 Disagree2

Credit where credit is due jack colback had a very good game today, do we need to spend a fortune on a left back?

Agree2 Disagree0

Altidore had a bit of an on-form danny graham game today in aspects such as:
made plenty of runs
created the chances
could last a whole match

only difference is that he actually had the service from midfield.
I think graham only got stick for the history.
btw before you compare last seasons altidore to my post note I am only talking about this game.

Ed what do you think our chances of getting cissoko is?

Cheers ed!

Believable2 Unbelievable2

{Ed024's Note - Liverpool have been chasing him for months so they've got to be favourites - the fact we want to buy and Liverpool want to loan may help the case but I'd still say 75% chance of going to Liverpool.}

But we've already opened talks!

Agree6 Disagree1

We've stole the lead, we're in talks and I think in right in saying that we are prepared to meet his wage demands

Agree4 Disagree2

See West Brom are wanting Gardener at £2million?. i'd double that!. some clubs want our players on the cheap!. if they wanna do that go to Newcastle 50pence each 3 for a pound! lol
