why won't players come to sunderand?
has anyone looked at the managerturnover in recent years.have you looked at the league standings for the past few years. we need stability.well be lucky if Donald duck signs in the current enviroment. give the màanger the authority to buy players.
with our current squad who will score goals?.
unless there is an I Flux of qualityplayers. and soon. we will be faced with relegation fights again.we spend most of the transfer time trying to getloan players to sign.

Agree! mind I think if we pay what clubs want for a player and the wages we will get the players we need . mind the north east and agents demands and fees play a part aswell! we always seem to bid really low for players and by the time we think about another bid another club comes in! there always seems to be a lack of urgency!. and ambition!

I agree with bob and canuck. We have the fan base a fantastic ground and training facilities. A world class manager. The weather is more or less the same around the country now. So why can't we get quality in our team. Liecester. Stoke. West brom. Southampton. West ham. All atract and get better players than us. We are better supported than all of them and a better ground. So what is wrong? Our accent? Lack of ambition? Oh and someone please tell me the steve harper rumour is not true.

Yes we've a fantastic ground, very good training facilities and the best fans. What we don't have however is a recent history of anything bar dodging relegation, a string of failed managers who've bought anyone and everyone and completely screwed up our club. We've no chance of offering champions league, or even a decent platform to kick on from. Another thing that counts against us is that we're too far from london, which of course is pretty much what matters for wags.

Give us a few seasons of decent results league & cup wise and things will change, until then anyone of any quality will avoid us like the plague.

I see Newcastle are set to beat us to the signing of Wijnaidum?? if this is so we are going to be in a relegation battle next season shopping for bargains So many teams around us are willing to pay the going price and its frustrating seeing our arch rivals beat us to a quality player!. Ellis Short should either put up the money required or step down and allow someone else who puts the club before profit . the word is football naivity! £2 millon here and there for average players isn't going to improve the team!!

Exactly! Going to miss out on a player of Wijnaldum's quality and not looking at players such as Aiden McGeady and Junior Hoilett, two bang average players who don't get a kick at their current clubs!

Yes the are cheap but the teams around us are spending the money required to get out of the relegation battle so maybe we should think about spending some!

i was totally gobsmacked when I saw we were looking at wijnaldum for 15 million and then I see we arnet interested but looking at junior hoilett for 2.5 million and my faith in sunderland is restored the board haven't gone mad same mediocre ambition thank god

We are not in hoilett and we are linked to mcgeady every window but never signs. People need to remember life before Ellis short.

Life before Ellis?? yes he's a billionare but look at it this way we've probably earned from the Premiership last season 70-80 million and after the near relegation of last season we need to invest big to get quality!. leicster stoke west hamd Watford and even Bournmouth are spending big money on quality players! shopping at Poundland will get us relegated!. even Dick said we needed 6 quality players so is Matthews and Coates top quality players? I doubt it!

Which quality players have they bought? Do u think there is someone sitting waiting to put money into Sunderland. Problem is we have been playing with relegation for too many season, no one wants to come borini,Richards both got offered big money but don't want to come to us. STOP BEEN DELUDED.

Agree0 Disagree2

05 Jul 2015 22:07:07
Deluded? so what's your answer for next season? so you think the present squad which has been shown to come very short of the Premiership mark will not struggle next season? even our saviour of last season says we need to find quality players! is he being restricted by the chairman??

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2015 23:16:39
What I disagree with people thinking we can attract cl players. Ever thought these players don't want to come to us rather than blame the chairman.

Probbaly because unlike Nial Quinn ,Ellis Short never or rarely comes out to say what is the policy funding and direction of this club. it would help if he did what Nial Quinn did and communicate with the fan base more!
