I know this season could go every other which way, but my God is in it exiting.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Lets enjoy the ride its got to be better than what I have been used to. I am in my fiftieth year supporting the lads, but as they say sunderland till I die. and as Paulo says relax. I am sure this time we are in good hands.

Agree2 Disagree2

It either goes super and everything goes to plan or everything goes to pot and finish rock bottom, there's no middle

Agree3 Disagree2

Who knows what position we will finish the season in due to all the new arrivals, but I do know it can't be worse than the last one. didn't enjoy one home game and in all honesty was bored rigid by half time, the pinnacle of course was the Norwich bebacle, let's hope they can hit a shot on target that will make a refreshing change.

Agree2 Disagree2

Yes it can be worse than last season, err, relegated

Agree3 Disagree3

Pesonally I would rather get relegated having a go playing football instead of 17th playing negative defensive boring stuff like under mon

Just wandering ed Do we still want scocco Excuse my spelling or is he staying? {Ed024's Note - He's on record as saying he wants to stay put so I think we have ended our interest.}

Believable1 Unbelievable1

You spelled Scocco correct but got wondering wrong {Ed024's Note - I thought he must have been having a stroll when he was thinking about Scocco !!!}

Peruzzi has agreed to join Sunderland he will travel in the next few days to Sunderland for a medical and to sign for the club. Source is his current clubs website.

Believable9 Unbelievable4

There is an article on there in which he meets some fans and tells them he will be playing for Sunderland next season but nothing is confirmed.

Premier League club Sunderland are ready to make an offer to Juventus for the services of winger Emanuele Giaccherini

Believable10 Unbelievable7

What do people think about this?

Agree5 Disagree4

Ive read he doesn't want to leave Italy and at 28 he has a 2 yr contract left so ill be suprised if he leaves to come here!

Agree7 Disagree2

Top guy in Italy who deals with transfers has said this is the info so no smoke without fire I say

Agree3 Disagree1

Di fantis dad is ellis shorts best mate and he's telling the bairn to keep the tickets sales up, basically we are bulk buying more mediocre players witha few young kids with potential. watched that video of training on echo etc and if anyone can make sense of it please explain, i'm 54 and an ex burnley and notts county player and all I see is divisions no teamwork {Ed024's Note - You cant follow a training session if you only see 2 minutes of it !!! Not sure about mediocre players - who would you like to see come in ?}

Agree1 Disagree4

Being burnley and notts county on fifa don't count mate. If it does then i'm most successful manager in sunderlands history on football manager. all hail me.

Agree4 Disagree1

Ed mate that was 2 mins highlights just like watching the whole of the proms aye its all windwood and no time to.

Agree1 Disagree0

Not on fifa bonnie lad in the boots, 4 seasons and time in non league too when me mates at the pit and in the fire brigade earned more, before macdonalds and gameboys and gobby greggs addicts, shame on you and wtf is fifa, ed I would rather of looked at the coaching tactics and brought in quality in that dept I won't write off our present squad over last seasons debacle they are the same as us just human and as such subject to emotions etc

Agree1 Disagree5

You only saw 2 mins of useless crap of players doing kick ups etc, this is good, if we do what Man C do and show what the team does in training sessions in detail, we'll get found out, that's a big part in the reason Man C lost the league last season, according to Alex Ferguson

Sunderland poised to make a bid for juventus winger giaccherini. Despite claiming he's happy at juve. Pdc has made him one of his top transfer targets and will hope to lure the 28 year old to the stadium of light.

Source. Italian media.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Excellent he would be but we still need players in with prem experience or keep a lot of the players we already have. Craigsafc

Agree4 Disagree1

Yea, but the Italian league still is a very good league

Agree4 Disagree1

He's not a starter at juve and is only on 10k a week so you never know he might fancy a pay rise.

ed does peruzzi have to have a medical over here or can he have one over there? think he will be a brilliant signing thanks {Ed024's Note - He could have the medical anywhere - but it is more usual to have the medical at the signing club.....that way the signing club know the medical equip is working correctly etc, so the results can be trusted.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

06 Jul 2013 16:38:06
Ed just to confirm to some simple people that an assist is a chance created that a teamate has scored from! Like when sess passed the ball to vaughan and he scored at the scums ground! He didn't only create 3 chances all season! My point is he could of created 100 chances but because we only scored from 3 of them he only had 3 assists! That is not his fault that the chances aren't being converted! Some people need to understand the game better before posting rubbish on here!

Dave the mackem {Ed024's Note - Your definition is correct - as far as I can find stats aren't kept for chances created because how would you define a chance - a shot or the opportunity to shoot - that would be a bit subjective.}

Believable1 Unbelievable2

He created 40 clear cut chances {Ed024's Note - Where does you stat come from ?}

Agree2 Disagree2

100 chances, ha, what team have you been watching. If you had said MON's tactics had restricted him from creating chances I would have agreed; but to say that Sess might have created 100 chances, now that is rubbish

Agree2 Disagree1

See the jellied eel brigade are trolling our pages again, Personally, I love the banter but it is so one sided lately, it is just a joke the skunks having a go at us, well done to the 3 stoogies at Sid James, and not forgetting Alex Ferguson for making the whole lot of them spew all at the same time as well as inducing the biggest bout of diarrhoea {Ed024's Note - The quicker Newcastle start signing some players the better - the banter is just too one sided at the moment.}

Agree1 Disagree0

The fact is when the players hear that Kinear is the director of football they back off!. talk about torpedoing your own ship!

Agree2 Disagree0

Ed, you asked where I got the stat from Sessegnon creating 40 chances this season, I answer it and you didn't put it on, why? {Ed024's Note - You'l have to post again - i didn't get it}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think its if he passes to someone then they directly shoot at goal on or off target ed. Its a bit like the what's classed as a shot on or off target topic if you know what I mean? And can that tool please shut up and learn to read because I didn't say he did create 100 chances I saod he could of as an example! Are some people really that thick or they acting stupid? He probably only watches the matches in a pub on the dodgey channels! Just pipe down mate because your boring me now by not reading things properly that's if u can read at all!

Cheers ed

http://www.squawka.com/players/stephane-sessegnon

That is the website I got the 40 chances from {Ed024's Note - Yep the 40 chances include the 3 goal assists but the data is good, Sessignon with similar numbers to Larsson although Larsson did play 3 games more.}

fee agreed with Peruzzi club this morning with the chairman the offer sunderland have made they could not turn down now its up to Peruzzi to pass his medical and agree terms this could be a really good deal as the lad is adaptable playing right back or wing

Believable3 Unbelievable0

This is the player I am most excited about. This lad could go on to be the best right back in the WORLD. He will no doubt one day play for the likes of Barca, Madrid Manchester United etc.

Agree4 Disagree0

We can't agree terms he wants 45k a week

Agree1 Disagree5

Fee and personal terms are agreed aparently. Just medical to complete. This will be done and hopefully completed on monday. Will be a proper class signing if we get it over the line.

Agree1 Disagree0

45 grand?. that's the agents talking. the player will accept a lot less!

keep reading on here about players we need to get rid of because they played sh**e last season are they the same players that most people thought would get us in the top 10 easily and some mentioning its the best squad we have put together in their lifetime of following the club I thought so myself. its not the same excuse but under mon he totally took away any confidence and self belief some of these players had in themselves playing some of the worst tactics I have ever seen in my 40 years of watching sunderland. if pdc does let players like Vaughan Larsson gardener bardsley cuellaar brown mclean Cattermole sessegnon graham (think I have most of the players mentioned on here) go then we want to hope that the players brought in to replace them can hack it in the premiership or we will be in for a long hard season.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Agree with much

Agree0 Disagree0

Most of these lads are quality players, tactics and positioning often made them look like mugs vaughan apart and solely due to age and length of contract i'm more than happy to retain everyone.

Agree2 Disagree1

The players you mentioned only just got us over the line, if MON was in charge of the same players for the last 8 games where do you think we would have finished? & which players do you think we would have been talking about singing?. I will tell you we would have been in the bottom 3 and james Perch & Dan Gosling would be 2 players we would be looking at.

Agree0 Disagree1

Read the post properly. what i'm saying is that under mon these players lost their confidence these are the same players who the season before people like you and myself and a lot more on here thought would take us forward and definitely into the top 10. yet under mon tactics they under achieved massively. now if we sell these players on and rely on all the new young signings we are making I can guarantee we will struggle, although times are exciting at the moment we still need players with premiership experience. if you don't think so then mate i'm sorry but you don't know a great deal about the challenges of the epl you don't get the time on the ball like these lads have been used to in whatever league they come from. {Ed024's Note - I think the number of players leaving has been over estimated - already gone - Kilgallon, Bramble, Migs, Elmo Mangane (returned) have gone. So 5 out, with Bardsley the only player looking as a definate to also go. So far we have 6 in the squad was a bit thin so don't expect an exodus.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not expecting an exodus ed in fact i'm the opposite and like I also stated I've never been as excited about the club as I am at the moment but the worry is if we do have an exodus we will be short on players with premiership experience

Fee agreed with AZ for Josy Altidore. get in

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Everybody already knows!

Agree7 Disagree2

Scored more than 20 goals last season, him and fletch would be unstoppable

Agree3 Disagree1

Unstoppable? Really!!

Agree6 Disagree2

Yes, unstoppable

Altidore's power and Agression aswell as his eye for goal
And
Fletcher's poachers instinct, scores 1 in every 3 shots, no fluke, carried this record on for a few years

Agree4 Disagree2

No its not unstoppable. {Ed024's Note - Whats the Newcastle view of a potential Fletcher Altidore front two ?}

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2013 12:01:06
Well looks like Jozy Altidore will be joining soon. Fletcher and Altidore up front will be deadly. But as we all know we need somebody creative to sit behind them. Wouldn't mind if Sess leaves to be honest, had a mediocre season and only had about 3 or 4 assists so maybe PDC needs to look at some more foreign players that can really pass the ball around and create space and chances. I suggest Paulo Tavares (portugal). Very creative player and has said he'd love to play in England one day. Who else could be a good signing as a creative player?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Lazio's Candrevra, great season for Lazio and Italy
Absolute beast of a player, 10m?

Agree5 Disagree3

Candreva would be an awsome signing i'd be happy to see sessegnon go if we got him to replace him

Agree4 Disagree4

C'mon PDC, let's get Candrevra

Agree4 Disagree3

We won't pay Peruzzi's wages what makes you think we will pay candrevra's

Agree2 Disagree5

Err, because Candreva is worth it

Top class player

reports on sky say that mendy joined up with marsaile in switzland for a medical on friday.

Believable6 Unbelievable6

Cant see Marsielle going for a second division player

Agree2 Disagree2

The club have said no offer at all has been received from Marseille

Agree4 Disagree2

Always thought this lad didn't seem that keen on coming to us, end of story, move on I say; we want players who jump at the chance to come to the S. O. L. , like the manager

Agree4 Disagree1

Dont need Mendy sign Rose PDC!

Agree8 Disagree2

Like a few of us said on here its a big move for a young lad I would rather him be 100% behind the move so its sensible for him to sit down with his family first and discuss it through would rather have him here if he was happy and his heart in it than become home sick after a month or so. either way if he comes or doesn't good luck to the lad in the future he seems as though he has got some talent.

Agree3 Disagree0

Hope we get this guy - talented, athletic with bundles of potential, anyone heard any more news?

Agree0 Disagree1

06 Jul 2013 10:12:07
ed any truth that Danny Graham is in talks with boro? {Ed024's Note - I've not heard that, I think I'm in a minority but I'd keep Graham, his work rate and commitment was fanstastic, just think he needs a goal to get going}

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Agree with that we need lots of back up strikers after having so few last season!. I think hell do well coming off the bench and i'd keep JI too!

Agree3 Disagree0

Your right ed. your in a minority.

Agree4 Disagree1

Just proves my point you know nothing about safc {Ed024's Note - Is my opinion worth less than yours my angry friend ?}

Agree2 Disagree2

Agree with ed. See how he goes until January and then sell if there's no improvement

Agree2 Disagree1

Would play graham as my main striker and use fletcher or altidore alongside him grahams link up play is excellent holds the ball and helps the midfield get forward something fletcher struggles to do

Agree1 Disagree5

Graham will prove himself he was a scapegoat last season

Agree2 Disagree1

I can see what PDC is doing creating a squad of younger players and senior ones to work on a rotation basis! we can't have the sitaution where we were fighting for relegation with a threadbare squad!. the better teams have bigger squads!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes graham had great workrate pay me 20k a week and so would i. 3 shots on target in over 10 games is a disgrace for any proffessional striker no matter what tactics are used. I would gladly take a loss to get rid

Agree1 Disagree0

Rather keep ji

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know that we like to see centre forwards score goals and though graham never scored last season his link up play with sessagnon Johnson Larson and the other lads was well worth paying the money something that fletcher couldn't do although his goals kept us up fletcher all round play is poor he needs to realise that he needs to link up better. when graham was playing his holding of the ball gave the lads from midfield the chances to get forward well illustrated in the 3-0 win at sid james. if altidore does sign I would prefer him to play along side someone who can link up well with him and to me that is danny graham. {Ed024's Note - A bit controversial - Altidore and Graham with Fletcher on the bench. If Fletcher isn't fit for the warm up games this could be the partnership v Fulham}

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2013 10:09:27
Dunno why everyone is saying we're not getting Mendy and Peruzzi, we have agreed a deal with the clubs and now we are in talks with the players

The club Peruzzi is from have said they want to sell him now, to us
So if the club don't want him, no point is staying, and Mendy is at Sunderland now having a medical and sorting his contract out now

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Perhaps both of their agents who are trying to get more money for their players. its the usual greed of agents that's the problem!

Agree2 Disagree0

06 Jul 2013 02:01:31
Ed what do you think about the wages situation with Peruzzi and possibly now Mendy do you think we are doing enough to push these deals over the line. as at this moment apart from Bardsley who is probably leaving we have no recognised full backs!. do you think we should pay the going rate? {Ed024's Note - I don't think any fans have a problem paying the going rate but if either want silly wages I would walk away - Mendy is 18 and Peruzzi 21 and while both are great prospects both have much to prove. That said it could be any number of factors slowing the negotiations.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We haven't had a normal, permanent left back for years, hope we start this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

sunderland to sign altidore, hooper, peruzzi, greek winger, huddlestone, ba, rose. mendy deal off, he's staying in france
off are cattermole, bardsley, graham, wickham, vaughan

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Hooper wants to stay with Celtic
Mendy deal is really close, wtf u on about?

Agree5 Disagree0

Mendy deal close? really?

Agree2 Disagree5

Huddlestone for £5m would be a fantastic deal, he is a fantastic player and will unlock defences with pinpoint passes.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Jul 2013 02:11:30
Weve signed Altidore for £6 million and he's agreed personal terms! that's a good bit of buisness. now we need a skillful third striker to compliment Fletch and the USA striker. i'd still keep JI but wickam and Grahams days must now be numbered!

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Hernandez?

Agree3 Disagree2

Probs be Vydra

Agree1 Disagree1

Altidor, another great signing for us great price to, if the 6mill price tag is true considering Bony was playing in the same league is the same age scored about the same amount of goals and is nearly double the price, I don't know about everybody else but this is the most excited I think I've ever been about a new season and I think that's down to not just the new manager but the the new scouting set up who for the first time ever get out there and scout.

Agree2 Disagree0

Well the good thing is we are trying to get good skillfull players!

Agree0 Disagree1
