Ed any truth in the Caulker or Lansbury rumours? Plenty of other names being thrown about but haven't heard as much about these two.
{Ed001's Note - Caulker is no longer wanted at Saints, so QPR are looking for a new home to loan him to. Sunderland are interested, but that is as far as it has got so far. I don't know anything about the Lansbury rumours sorry.}

To be fair I haven't seen a lot of him since he played for England 21's! One of them with all the potential back then but didn't really kick on!
I'd rather go after a couple of CB's and a striker! Possibly a winger and/ or a no.10 as well!
Pickford the best keeper in the squad needs a chance to cement his place!

I see Pickford may play against Arsenal in next weeks FA cup game! Also Bournmouth are wanting Defoe but after Defoe's performance against Villa yesterday the board and Big Sam all want sacking if we sell him in our present predicament! Talk about scoring an own goal?

Honestly, I can't decide what would be best. But I thought Larsson did well at right back. Put him there and try Jones at LB. I'm not 100% sure it would work, but it's worth a shot. After that, though, I have no idea. Thoughts?

Ed, any whispers on any rumoured transfers besides the Januzaj one?
{Ed024's Note - Nothing new, we've shown an interest in Jonty Rhodes, but so have a few clubs. Moussa Sow is always linked but that link sounds like lazy journalism as he's linked with us every close season and it feels like the same story, again and again. I'm just hoping that there is a lot of work going on in the back ground !}

We need to have more ambition and invest better like clubs such as West Ham and Stoke. How in the last two seasons have Stoke signed Bojan, Afellay, Van Ginkel and soon to add Shaqiri

TOTTALY AGREE with you SAFC we need more ambition as this and ill say it again Poundstretcher mentality will end up in relegation! hard work and running around like headless chickens on the field won't get us the wins we need to stop up! and DA must REVERT TO 4-4-2 play 2 up front provide the service to them and be positive!! Short needs to get his wallet out!

This transfer window is really starting to annoy me, the clubs around us are spending the money to survive and develop their teams while we are trying for bargains, if we DA doesn't realise by now we need more and after that preformance against leicester then I can see a very long amd boring seaon for us with no good ending like we always somehow manage to do

I don't see it as a blow at all,It is like playing with 10 men every time he plays.Absolutely refuses to do any work at all.Over paid pretender who is taking the pee.This player cost 10 million, and he has been a total waste money,probably because he was happy to sit on the bench for . years at Man C,and took the dough.Sorry this fella for me is an imposter.

I think your point is valid for Johnson but you have to agree he scores important goals. He is whinger doesn't know how to operate as first team player. Cause at man city he was interested being on the bench and partying.

I don't know how anyone feels but I personally don't like the idea of signing Downing. He's 30 and not really going to bring the sustainability we need to do better than the last few seasons.

I think the January signings have all done well and didn't cost much. More like that would be good. Our track record in the transfer market has been pretty poor for years.

Not just this month but in the summer as well seeing players like Wijnaldum, Byram, Townsend, Afobe all going to clubs around us is fairly frustrating!
Some might not agree with me but in my eyes they would all walk into our team but we weren't interested in half of them and lost one to Newcastle. It's so difficult to get players in in January.

Reading we are now after another two signings, a striker and a right back? Surely with 3 right backs one or two will go? I personally would like to see us sign Sam Byram and a striker maybe Charlie Austin? Benik Afobe?

Afobe is a good shout. There is a lo of talent in championship and lower leagues. They go for quite cheap too but Austin and Afobe may go for a bit. Nick Blackman who went to derby looked decent. Been in championship but did well.

Think we need at least 3/ 4 players coming in in January.
2 CBs or a LB and CB as we are short and very average at the back, Kaboul looks solid at times but needs to stay fit. O'Shea on his last legs but still there in the head so could do with a younger CB
A striker to partner Defoe as he will score goals with a bigger striker to feed off. Fletcher just doesn't do it for me.

Now with the squad we have I would rather Watmore and Gooch on the bench/ playing every week over the likes of Buckley and bridcutt. There's more potential there and they actually want to play football!
Yedlin is a plus coming in, he will want to play and get as much premier league experience as possible. Shame we couldn't get another CB and LB in but will have to work with what we have now.
GK: Pants
RB: Yedlin
CB: Kaboul
CB: O'Shea/ Coates
LB: PVA (unfortunately)
CDM: Cattermole
CDM: M'Vila
CAM: Toivonen
RF: Lens
ST: Defoe
LF: Borini
We are pretty versatile going forward with Johnson so come back as well. Borini and Lens can play anywhere across the front 4.
This leaves the likes of Mannone, Jones, Coates, Rodwell, Larsson, Gooch and Watmore amongst the subs.

Maybe give van aanholt one more chance, while its still early, then if there's no improvements, Jones has experience at left back, and yedlin or Matthews could probably play there. Personally I think that premier league fullbacks should be able to play either side, it's not difficult.

As has been said on here if we play Borini on the left he should be able to help PVA out on that side . remember also that off form players like Coates Catts and PVA played so well last season and they don't lose that over night all will come good again! Personally think the American is a great signing and will give us great pace both at the back and going forward!

Besides the score I personally thought we matched City all game if not better than them! Just didn't manage to convert any chances, Joe Hart was excellent mind! All the new signings were good I thought, all looked comfortable and made us look s better side! All have a bit of pace about them as well.

Have I just read that right, "one thing Fletch will do is score you goals" wake up chief he's had one good season for us! Best thing to do was move him on, pointless having one of the highest earners sat on the bench! I think BSA has done a pretty good job in bringing players in to strengthen (if they can adjust to the prem that is) getting rid of all the deadwood was key! A couple of CB's, a 10 and a striker isn't bad going really! Think people need to stop being impatient because let's be honest I bet none of you have seen them play and only watched YouTube clips to find out who they are. Give them chance and see. You all might be right at the end of the day but don't jump the gun.

Agree with you both completely! But I don't even know if Van Aanholt would cut it further up, he has no heart at all. It's embarrassing! Need another left back sharpish, he looks like he knows he won't be dropped as there's no one else! Jones 1st choice rb? Shouldn't of bought Matthews in should of brought in better so Jones was a squad player! Coates awful said it when we were linked he was a waste, squad/cup player at best! Kaboul average at best, reason he hasn't had a game at Tottenham for so long. Need some creativity, if we played 4-2-3-1 with Cattermole and M'Vila as the two with Lens left we need a number 10 and striker that can do the job on his own and also a right winger!
I'd happily see Austin or Hernandez come in, we HAVE to pay up and get them in. I'd rather pay money for someone like Matt Phillips than get Januzaj in on loan. We need to fork out for a 10 Dembele could fit in there as playing him as a holding midfielder is out of position, destroyed Utd few season ago playing 10, he has more freedom. Rather see Ron Vlaar come in on a free than either of the two centre halves we have. Fork out and get Van Dijk in, even Evans would improve us. I'd also take Ashley Cole on a free as completion. Rather have Alonso though. Get a RB in Sam Byram? I'd even have Jon Flannagen on loan.
