Ok let's get one thing straight, Gus isn't picking the players, he is only saying yes or no to having them, Lee Congerton is the one finding players to sign so why are we all mad at Gus?

This would be my team with players rumored;

GK: Vito
RB: Jones
CB: Zouma (loan)
CB: Caulker (5mil)
LB: Alonso (3mil + diakite)
CDM: Cattermole
CDM: Ki (6mil)
RAM: Johnson
CAM: Welbeck (11mil)
LAM: Giaccherini
ST: Sow (12mil)

Bench: Pantilmon, brown, oshea, gomez, rodwell (loan), altidore
This team would cost about 27mil
What does everyone think? Ed?

{Ed024's Note - I think Gus has more input into the player selection than you outline above. Of the team you have above I don't think we'll see Caulker, Welbeck or Ki. Sow would be good but there are a few clubs interested. I'd be disappointed if we didn't get Alonso.}

Is it just me or does anyone else think that borini is a waste of time, he doesn't want to come, so don't hang around him, we should try and sign someone like Romelu Lukaku

1.) If Liverpool don't want him we will get him, they are in champions league ffs

2.) Same, I don't understand what all the hype is about
Yeah, he tried hard, yeah he was good in big games but tbh half of his goals came from a penalty, he's good, I love his attitude but why waste all our time trying to sign someone who is doing everything possible not not come and I don't think he's worth +12m, maybe 7/8m

3.) Lukaku would cost 20-30mill to buy plus the fact he won't come here. If Chelsea sell him all the top teams will be in for him. Now a top striker that's gone off the boil you might snag at 15-20mil would be Benteke but again wages etc is a problem as didn't he want to leave but stayed on a new 70k a week contract at Villa? Only other thing would be to go abroad or try and loan top team youngsters like Jesse at Real Madrid.

Honestly. If that doesn't earn a player a run-out with the first team, what does? And with AJ facing legal issues and stress why not at least try him out as a sub. When was the last time Johnson made an impact as a sub, anyway? Who knows DW might do something crazy like… score a goal!

Watmore scored AGAIN tonight against Chelsea!. well lose this player if he isn't at least given aplace on the bench this season . ridiculous decision . and worse still Dick wasn't even at the match . to watch him!! . glad Avacaat won't be here next season as we need to use some of the huge talent in the U21S!

Does anyone else think that we should give the youngsters a shot in the team (watmore, mandron, Honeyman, Agnew) what do u think ed?

{Ed001's Note - for me, no matter what club you are talking about, the first port of call when you have a weakness in the squad should be to see if there is anyone in the academy to play there.}

1.) I have been advocating playing Agnew or Honeyman for some time. They might be the creative midfielder that we need.

I See the likes of Honeyman and others contracts run out at the end of this season shudnt the club be giving these talented players long term contracts now ? looking at Bradford former Sunderland player Knott we are letting too much young talent go to other clubs and I agree more youngsters like Whatmore Mandran and Honeyman should be given more play time in the first team !

Dissapointed to learn another young prospect Lynden Gooch has gone on loan to Gateshead !. some of these young players should be on the bench in the first team with the prospect of giving them some game team to help the first team !

But only two stand out for me ( sow and Valencia ) I would also love us to sign Michel Babatunde, he is quick, skillful and is a great winger. With the players we have been linked with this is my squad;

So Liverpool have signed Ricky lambert from Southampton for a fee of £9million, that means Borini is 4th choice striker, come on Poyet get the young lad signed in related news Real Madrid have given up on trying to sign luis Suarez and have turned to Sergio Aguero

1.) Even if Suarez went, they'd get a hell of a lot of money for him +65m
They'd buy another striker to replace him like Cavani etc
