If Poyet wants to play Wickham and Fletcher together he should play 4-4-2 and not stick one on left wing. Man. U. tried it last season with Rooney out wide and it failed. If he wants to play 4-3-3 then he has to leave out either Wickham or Fletcher and as we don, t have a no. 10 other than perhaps Giacherinni who is injured put Ndiaye in midfield with Larsson right and Johnson left wings. I know fullbacks were injured by young lad in U21's is better option than Young who is better than Roberge at CH.

Belgium have just lost to Argentina because they are not a team. When England won the World Cup they had 3 World Class players- Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton and Jimmy Greaves. When Greaves was injured Hurst came in and then kept his place when Greaves was fit again because the team was better. Sunderland had some players last season who were not good enough for the Premier but Poyet played the right system to get the best out of the team. We need to build on this team ethic by getting the right players. Colback gave balance on the left. We need to bring in two left sided players for fullback and midfield preferably with pace. Is Danny Rose out of the picture?

{Ed024's Note - Yes he is.}

im Worried about some of the quality players going to other clubs when we should be in for them!. and the lack of transfer activity going into July . is Short not releasing enough funds for Poyet to spend??

2.) 06 Jul 2014 20:18:38
And what about his son Diego Poyet? I heard he's on the verge of signing for West Ham now if Gus is commited to this club why hasn't he snapped up his son Diego for Sunderland? does that suggest Gus,s loyalties are elsewhere as surely he has an influence in where he goes?. surely West Ham isn't a top club for his son? so why isn't he signing for Sunderland?

{Ed024's Note - Might add a complication if his son was playing for the club}

3.) They've both said they don't want to be at the same club, his son says his dad is his worst critic & he wants to make his own way. Loyalties have nothing to do with a kid making a good choice. If he did come and played crap he'd get grief if he didn't drop him and be accused of favouritism.

4.) 07 Jul 2014 00:52:57
Then why is Steve Bruces son at Hull ed? .no problem there!

{Ed024's Note - Behave - I didn't say it was never done - just that it is an added complication. If you cant see that, then your just not looking.}

5.) 07 Jul 2014 13:33:08
I see Sunderland are pushing Wickam to sign a new contract which is fair enough as Leicester are after him . mind I feel we should buy before we sell any striker after last season!

6.) 07 Jul 2014 13:31:17
ed I can understand why he doesn't want to be working with his father. but its a shame because he's a highly rated player!

{Ed024's Note - He's highly rated - one for future}

7.) 07 Jul 2014 19:27:03
We are looking at Zouma Rodwell in a loan deals and want to sign and 18 year Romanian winger called Rotariu who is highly rated!. would be 3 good signings if we can get those 3!

Poor England defending lost us the two matches. Poyet needs to ensure we get a good left back and centre half before everyone else snaps them up. Goal scorer is next priority. Borini only scored 8 last season. Try Joel Campbell on loan from Arsenal. he probably needs toughening up for Premier so Arsenal might loan him. Otherwise go for a midfielder who can score - any suggestions?

Keith42

1.) Knowing arsenal they would put Joel Campbell out on loan and with him in the World Cup and looking pretty good they would want him to get pl experience

2.) I'd love for us to get Joel Campbell! pure young talent

Referees can only give what they see. It was therefore not a penalty. He did not see Brown tripping Falcao because it was O, Shea.As Ref. gave penalty and red card for something he did not see its him who should be suspended.

Keith42

{Ed001's Note - that is what I don't understand, if he said he saw Brown commit a foul, then it should be ruled a mistake and overturned. Then he should be punted out of the Prem and never referee a professional game ever again.}

1.) 01 Mar 2015 21:11:12
The Ref was way behind the play so how could he see it properly and where was the linesman ? he didn't even consult him ! ridiculous decision that cost us at least a point ! if it was Chelsea or Man City they would have got away with it !

{Ed001's Note - I just don't understand why the refs won't admit to a mistake, it is stupidity to deny it was an error.}

That's it. I have had enough of Poyet.

I do not understand Poyet's comment in the Sunderland Echo that Liam Agnew should "define himself" if he watched the U21's or gave the kid a chance I am sure he would shine. I like Alvarez and Johnson but they are essentially wingers. If we play 4-3-3 we also need a creative central midfielder and Agnew might be able to be this missing link. At the moment our central midfielders are all the same - up and downers.

I do not like 3 at the back. If Cattermole is fit I would rest Brown or O'Shea on Saturday and play 4-3-1-2. The FB's can still get down the wings but need to be covered by the midfielders.

Only Colback and Henderson have come through to the first team from the youth team in recent seasons and they have moved on. I think Agnew and Honeyman have a very good chance of coming through so I hope they are nurtured and rewarded so that they may become the foundation of a decent Premier team.

Fletcher seems to be like Sessegnon (who I rated highly) that he can look to be class one week and then ordinary at best the next. I do not think he fits the Poyet system so he might go. Defoe doesn't either so hopefully the system will change.

I assume that Poyet knows that he will have to change his system as Defoe cannot play upfront on his own.

It is not good to bring many players in, in January. We desparately need someone to score goals. We should break the bank to get a striker (not Borini) - Long is not getting games for Southampton is quick and scores in Premier - may be worth a punt. Rodellega was good at Wigan, but not at Fulham. Campbell or Sanogo from Arsenal worth a go.

I saw Charlie Austin when he played for Swindon and did not rate him. He is not as good as Fletcher or Wickham, but better than Altidore. I would not buy him.

I have been advocating playing Agnew or Honeyman for some time. They might be the creative midfielder that we need.

GN -I agree with what you are saying but until Cattermole and Rodwell are fit we need cover on the left.Revellierre (?) is now injured or I might suggest him at LB with Van Anholt moving to LW. I do not like playing out of position but sometimes needs must. I lke the idea of Alvarez and Johnson playing behind Defoe as long as all three move about - bit like Liverpool front 3.

I think Gus Poyet would make a good manager for Aston Villa.

Poyet picks the team! Everyone knows that Van Anholt is great going forward but needs cover when defending. Also if fit Brown is our best defender. Gomez and Bridcutt are Poyet signings. Neither is good enough for Premier but Cattermole has been injured so there has been little choice. I have advocated trying Agnew or Honeyman in central midfield. Although I dislike the system we may need to put Wickham back on the left to provide the defensive cover.

If you have SKY why don't you do what I do. Watch the game on the Red Button at 10' which is BEFORE MOTD starts. You can watch MOTD on Sunday Morning if you want to see the other matches. There has always been a North/ South bias so the only way out is for Sunderland to score goals and win.
