Reading through all the MON out as he's not achieving what we expect... Which is what exactly? Europe? Because this isn't going to happen not for a few years yet, yes SOL and AOL is a great set up but to get where we expect to be will take time he has to built a complete new squad! And as we have seen before this doesn't happen over night as seen when SB brought an influx of his players in they didn't gel!i read this site a number of times a day and it seems that a lot of our fans hardly know what they are talking about and if they have an idea then they are hypocrites! I think we should cheer our current team on and look to support what we have at the moment!

Well said mate theirs sum rite persons on here who haven't got a clue !

Stewart downing is getting left out the liverpool team because they have a child who is playing better he will cost between 6 -9 million I reckon we could get bent for 6 mill put sess on the left or give mcfadden more of a chance I wouldn't sign graham for example chopra I would sign hooper but not for 7 or 9 million maybe 5 and whickam on loan if we are to gid rid of bramble killgalon and cambell and you are looking for volunters to drive them count me in I will also chip in to help terminate there contracts just a thought on bardo who I happen to like mon had him on loan at villa and it didn't work out we could get alan hutton for 2 million and izzergeri from celtic for about 5 and I'd be happy

Believable1 Unbelievable5

Hutton? youre joking

if i went into work and said judge me after 3 years what would happen, come on man we can't wait 3 years to see our team do well he's had the money in the summer to sort it out and he failed look at the team half would not get into the swansea team

Believable1 Unbelievable6

If an architect was to rush his work, I'd expect a collapsing building at some point. Give MON time, he'll build the team he wants

Agree4 Disagree0

'We can't wait 3 years to see our team do well'. Really. Well I've been waiting since I saw Dick Malone score one of his two goals for SAFC to watch us in the top flight for this long continuously.
So, I for one can wait a little longer - European nights at the SOL might not come soon enough for my Dad I suppose. He'll just have to be content with his memories of collecting cigarette cards on the Fulwell End terraces as a 10 year old in 1946 and a certain cup run.
And you can't give MON the time he deserves to sort us out ?

Agree1 Disagree0

fact of the matter is 80% of our team is championship players this has been our problem for years

Sorry people but some of you really pi#s me off mon has a squad of players if he used they same 11 every game they would be injured or suspended by week 10 he has inherited a squad that he has made no secret is not good enough fair enough adam johnson has been a bit of a let down every other player he has paid money for has been a success free transfers he has given a chance have let there selves down. To me the league is more important than a cup run because we were never going to win it people say about our support the only decent supporters we have is the 4-5 thousand away fans we have hats off to you 17 000 in 48 000 seater stadium for a game we wanted to win its a disgrace look what's going on up the road they will get at least 48 000 next home game better still look at rangers 3rd divison in scotland 50 000 every home game get behind the team and mon ed24 what do you think {Ed024's Note - After a slow start I think Johnson is doing OK - regarding the crowd, 17,000 for a game against a championship side on a freezing cold night is no great surprise - Stoke and West Brom only got 11,000 at their games on the same night. }

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Unfortunately the FA Cup doesn't bring crowds it used to. Our lowest attendance last season was against Arsenal. As for down the road they also have poor attendances in the cup, they don't make it far enough to get a home draw but in the Europa League theyve been getting about 25,000 fans which isn't amazing

if oneill goes (with a bit luck) who would be the man for the job? {Ed024's Note - Oneil won't be going, he is the right man for the job}

Believable6 Unbelievable6

O'Neill has barely started - 6 in so far, the rest inherited. Judge him after 3 years, not one.

Agree5 Disagree3

The thing about editing is that it requires you to reflect views neutrally. If you don't know the difference between editing and editorialising you shouldn't be doing the job. There are enough O'Neill apologists on the site already, and if you have strong views I suggest you submit them like everyone else does, to another editor, and stop abusing your position. Maybe O'Neill is the right man for the job, but there is sure as hell no evidence that justifies that view, so stop pushing it as if it were more than your own humble opinion. {Ed024's Note - What made you think it was more than my opinion ? I dont have a crystal ball but given where we were heading when MON took over I for one feel he certainly needs more than a year. NB This is only my humble opinion}

Agree5 Disagree2

Blame keane and Bruce, they're the ones that bought mostly rubbish. O'neil can only do so much with the squad he inherited.. He doesn't have the correct players to play his way to a high standard yet! Like ed said judge him once he has his players in... In Marty I trust.

henderson set to sign on season long loan

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Come on don't be silly.

Agree3 Disagree1

No chance, we need midfielders who can tackle as well as pass.

Agree2 Disagree1

He mostly passed back.
Jeez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes a good passer of the ball just lacks tackling ability

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting a game for liverpool rodgers rates him so why would they let him go what a bad post

Elmo recalled? If that 's the best plan O'Neill has after a year in charge it is time he was gone.

Disgusting embarrassing inept gutless clueless prideless spineless humiliating rubbish and down right blatant awfull.
All the above are too good to describe that abismal pathetic excuse of a performance last night. It was like we didn't want to win. One up front counter attacking at home to a poor championship side isnt good enough mon. Please learn more tactics or we are going to struggle with that bunch of losers.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

I have really tried to remain positive but i agree with what you have said. Its a year since Mon became our manager and i don't see any improvement at all.Cant see anything changing either.we should have buried Bolton last night, but as you say his plan of 1 up front with a really poor midfield is taking us backwards.Sorry but as i see it we have not improved 1 jot since Steve Bruce.

Cannot believe we have recalled elmo from hull. What is mon thinking about? He is WORSE than we've got here already. Not a bright end to the season

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Completley agree with the above but i am hopeful that elmo will be offloaded by the end of january

Don't know what's happened with Bardsley but he looks nothing like that player that won player of the season. Its not as if its just been the odd bad game he's been terrible all season. Too many mediocre players at Sunderland that need to be sold. We need to get rid of this deadwood to achieve the team we all desire and deserve. If only the team was as good as the TRUE supporters!

More rubbish from from the team; more dross from the manager. The thing is Martin, that YOU are supposed to prepare them, organise them and motivate them. We know they are not very bright; that is why there is a manager- to tell them what to do and make sure they practise so they can do it. What they show on the pitch is the result of your selection, preparation, coaching and organisation. And what is 'disappointing' is that you patently have no clue how to do any of these things.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

This is obviously coming from a person who obviously sits behind a computer screen. As a manager you can only build on things that are already there! Yes motivation is a big one but making the players more determined isn't down to him

Agree3 Disagree3

I think you have a rather limited view of management. Motivation is what builds commitment- try telling SAF that his players attitudes have nothing to do with him!

Agree3 Disagree0

MON said we need consistancy ? that's an understatment Martin !

Agree1 Disagree1

So this is the world class manager we rely on?...we were rubbish first half so instead of changing things round at half time he waits untill the 72nd minute before changing personel again too little too late ! and again one striker no wonder Wicham struggled .and when Campbell came on he took Wickam off !unbelievable normal managesr would have played with 2 even 3 strikers being 2 down ...not good enough !...i feel we are heading for relegation with this manager !

Agree3 Disagree4

Agree with the above post !...last night defeat was due to the manager ...the buck stops there ..its his job to organise replace and motivate the players ! ..MON didn't do that last night !

Agree3 Disagree3

I think MON will accept a certain amount of reponsibilty for last night and rightly so, although don't look no further that pitch to see the amount of money Keane and Bruce spent and bought average players, this is no more that a transition period we are in at the moment and I think fans are expecting a quick fix this does not happen! There's still majority of the previous managers squad there and let's be frank mostly a championship side! I think people need to stop this MON out
Rubbish sooner rather than later because who out there is better and would want to come to the north east! I think realistically its going to be 2 more seasons before you really see the work happening but now we need to support OUR club home and away through thick and thin!

After last night display I really hope we get a right back in the near future because Bardsely is terrible, I like how he wears his heart on his sleeve but he is just simply not good enough

Believable5 Unbelievable2

How fifty faced are some of our supporters. It wasnt long ago bardsley was voted player of the season for us.

Agree3 Disagree3

That was last year mate. He has been rubbish all this season. Looks like injuries have taken there toll

Agree2 Disagree0

If he plays well the next two games the fans will happy again. Always hsppens. Guess its just the way supporters are though.

one thing we need to buy this window is consistency - couldn't agree more with MON interview after the Bolton match

CC

Believable7 Unbelievable0

MON's remarks were accurate as far as they go, but the point is what sort of consistency and how it is is achieved. Actually the team has been consistently disappointing over the past year, with the occasional 'shock' of a competent performance. What we need is a manager who can consistently send out a team that competes, has a variety of tactics and shows some appetite for the game, rather than one whose teams consistently produce timid, lazy, error-strewn performances that suggest they are not appropriately trained or prepared for the challenge.

We need a rb and either need to change to 4-3-3 or buy a new right/left winger to add more competition plus mcclean is gaarbage. Need rose back at left back and get bardo off the pitch. One positive from tonight is that I thought sess looked lively.
Safcdj

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Tottaly agree with above we desperatly need to revert to2 up front even 3 when we are behind chasing the game !..SESS doesnt look good up front so many times last night we had flick ons and no one there to run on too!

(Sunderland season ticket holder) just back from the fa cup shambles players I would never like to see put a sunderland shirt on again Bardsley, kilgallon, player's mon needs to move on are colback only passes back and sideways lacks body strength, brown injury prone, cueller weak and to slow, bramble inconsistent, Gardner passing poor and very sluggish can't just keep him because he has a good shot, elmohamady unable to beat a man and deliver quality ball into the box, Johnson incredible slow, lazy not a team player Mancini must be laughing at sunderland for paying 10m, Mcclean negative seem unable to go past a player before crossing, vaughan to easily bullied, Campbell body language show's he doesn't care, Ji not physically up to the premier lge, Saha a waste of a wage packet, McFadden not a premier lge standard player, wickham should be loan out for a full season to give him chance to find some confidence and tell mon if he is going to be able to make it as a premier lge player, in mon we have faith to build us a team to be proud off gradually over the next 4 or 5 seasons. Haway the cats

Believable5 Unbelievable7

AGAIN why does MON play only one up front !..its suicidal !..why didn't he play either Campbell or Saha up front with Wickham ?...we were abysmal first half but as usual MON doesnt know how to change a game no plan be ..we should have changed things round at half time ...you could see what was happening ...my dog could see what was happening !..this is our worst display of the season !...not good enough !

Agree7 Disagree3

Did we really want to win that game !...what was our alleged manager doing during this tottaly inept performance !...NOTHING ! as usual one step forward 10 steps back ..and beaten by a very poor championship side ...embarassing !

Agree6 Disagree2

To the MON knockers, think on this. With the the exception of Johnson, that was Brucie's team last night. Yes, many of them are not good enough - that's why many will not be here next season. Give the manager time, look what hire and fire has done for the mags - crisis again

Agree9 Disagree1

Sir Bruce's team? The same squad that has been getting you into Europe for the last 2 season. Surely the best manager in the world according to some on here (O Neil) can get you there.

Agree5 Disagree2

Most sunderland fans surely know that getting into europe with this squad would only end in relegation as we can see what is happening to the entertainers up the road so yes this is going to take a while for mon to get it right

Agree3 Disagree0

BRUCIES SQUAD ! yes but the question is why has MON taken over a year in charge to find out they aren't good enough !...he should have cleared out the deadwood in the summer !...to little too late ..and this is the actions of a great manager !??>

Agree2 Disagree2

Given time to build his team, MON and Short can get it right, and you know it, and that's what worries you sick.
This presumably is why you feel the need to infringe here.
Listen, don't invest too much emotional energy in us, 'cos we couldn't care less about Newcastle.
Just wished we'd offered him an 8 year contract !!
Oh, and it's O'Neill (that's 2 l's)

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes Brucie's squad, on Brucie's contracts ! A year in charge only covers 2 transfer windows and were still in one of them !
Calm down. Rome wasn't built in a day and cash flow ain't limitless. This is a gradual rebuilding job surely. Anyone at last nights game knows who the OUTS are. Fletcher, Rose, Cuellar, Johnson, N'Diaye, Mangane IN is a good start.
Come on, keep the faith.
