I hope the signing of Kaboul was not a knee jerk reaction to the failure in signing Lombaerts. It appears we are going to do things on the cheap as usual. If you look at Tottenham transfer news.the spurs fans are over the moon that they are rid of him with scathing posts on the website.Just what we need, but good luck to him,I hope he proves them wrong. chris-s

Agree chris-s supporters seem to be split over the Kaboul signing i'd say wait and see! similarly the Liverpool supporters were saying the same over Coates so let's give him the benefit of the doubt!

I look at it from the angle is he better than who we have playing for us now? Even though he might not be a world beater the answer is probably yes! I'd take him over Virgini any day!

Here's hoping he stays fit and comes good!

Come on he's WAY above Vergini and a proper center half and more important give 110% in every game which will please any Sunderland fan! Agree like all of out signings he needs to keep fit!

Some say £ 4million but if he keeps fit will be a good signing he's got everything for a defender in his locker pace power and scores a few goals at set pieces!

Not so sure about his pace or mobility after last season, he seemed to be a shadow of his former self, which is also why all of spurs fans are so happy to see him go, he's their vergini.

SO business as usual then.

Jon. Evans would be a great signing because he is a left sided CH who could therefore cover at LB. if needed. I think Defoe could be a problem if Avocaat plays 4:3:3. He needs someone alongside him. Wickham needs to be kicked a few times in training to toughen him up.He could be a very good striker ie one who scores goals, if he toughened up.Injury free Giaccherina could be a big asset.

Pity about Lombaerts- seems strange that he needed to come here to realize he wanted to stay in Russia.A little worrying to see Kaboul linked adain- after he response when we tried to bring him here previously he is unlikely to be a hit, and he did not get, many games last year. If we insist on targeting older centrebacks maybe we should make a serious bid for Curtis Davies, who was outstanding for Hull.

Agree can't get the Kaboul link paticullay when Lombards failed his medical as Kaboul hasn't played since November we seem to be buying a team of crocks!! good player when he's fit but i'd go for Curtis or Evans aswell mind it looks as if AS USUAL we are doing it on the cheap.
