Use our rumours form to send us sunderland transfer rumours.

Okay, getting worries again

We've got a left back, look like we are getting Rodriguez (winger)
But, we still need a quick, young, GOOD centre back, a central midfielder and a striker to get us 15 goals a season
We aren't getting linked with any. To me it looks like we are going off in an order, get one player, then target and go for the next, and so on, just target players we need in all positions that need to be filled and just try get them to join, don't focus all the attention on a certain target
Or…I might be wrong and the club are doing everything behind closed doors, but we need to hurry up

I'm also getting worried. Gus, himself, said hopefully 2 more signings in addition to PVA by now, but no news. It seems we'll get CR, but who's the third? Alonso? Seems like he's tied up in Spain until January at the earliest. And with all due respect if Gus goes with a 4-2-3-1, and we have Catts and Bridcutt, do we need to waste time and resources (neither of which we have much of) on a CM? CB has to be the priority. Maybe 2. We conceded a lot of goals last year (a lot of OG's as well) so first stop the bleeding. If Fletcher can find his form and Connor can keep his we might be ok up front. I don't think we'll have 15+ goal scorer, but get some from them, plus some from AJ and Giach-o it might work. Plus, I'm still hoping Altidore can do something.

16 goals from our strikers last season. That's including borini as a striker. Take away his 7 goals that's 9 goals from our front men!
13 games last season without scoring. If we'd managed 1 goal in each of them games we would have an extra 16points.
So we need 4 strikers averaging 10 goals each, 20+ goals from midfield and a few from defence. Also need a defence that can stop us leaking so many goals

Still plenty of rumours, but only three weeks to go and where are we? Four signings - at a total outlay of a princely one and a half million, and fourteen departures, including loanees. And after early emphasis on strengthening the defence, current rumours seem to be largely about nondescript midfielders who are available or Uruguayan (or both) rather than players meeting our priorities. Of course we did not score enough goals last season- or any season since the Phillips and Quinn era- but we did score more than seven other premier teams, as this is a common problem among the poorer sides. But we conceded 60 goals- more than all but the three relegated sides and Aston Villa- so where are the additional centre-backs and defensive options we need? We know the miraculous streak of results achieved at the death will not be replicated next season, but continuing to leak soft goals probably will be, unless we significantly strengthen the defence. There is already little prospect of new players being integrated before the season starts, and despite his efforts to talk them up, the club's efforts so far have been disappointing.

Look, let's be realistic here, we are a team located in the north east of England that has battled relegation in around 80% of our premier league seasons. The odd couple of higher finishes we failed to attract higher quality players to push forward again.

This means that signing quality players instead of on loan is hard to do unless you pay over the odds to their clubs and stupid wages. The FFP now stops that from happening, unless you want to be a Portsmouth!

Sorry, I shall mention him once, Borini does not want another relegation battle for a team he is contracted to. If I were SAFC I would give him an ultimatum now saying sign this week or we won't be back at the end of August for you. The issue is this is probably what he wants so he can stay at LFC. Either way, I would take the hard stance now so we can move on and get A N Other in instead.

Cristian Rodriguez in my opinion shows signs of the clubs intent to bring in higher quality players. Played in the World Cup, part of the Spanish league winning team and Champions League finalists, and plays LW/ACM so fits in where we need a player.

This aside my concern is defence. JOS and WB are the only CB's we have (unless you count Diakite and Roberge) so we MUST get cover, or even better and quality first team starter, in ASAP. I would be looking at Micah Richards as he covers RB as well. Strong with pace and ex international so increasing the quality straight away.

Either way we need to stop all these negative comments against the club and players (sorry Borini again) as I am sure they are trying their utmost to strengthen the squad.

Yes I am worried at how thin our squad is and the lack of cover we have in defensive positions bu I'd rather we brought through the U21 players than but more Diakites and Roberges!

If that's what you believe, why do you think Richards would come?
He's at a top club which means he'll be on big wages, and a whole load of other clubs will be in for him, good teams and the teams that aren't as good are located in London
Got no chance

I didn't say we couldn't sign them just that's it's difficult due to the circumstances so us fans need to be realistic. We can Dare to Dream though

. Roy Keane tried to address the issue head-on during his turbulent but often exciting time as Sunderland's manager. "If a player doesn't want to come to Sunderland, then all well and good, " he said in 2007. "But if he decides he doesn't want to come because his wife wants to go shopping in London, then it's a sad state of affairs. It's not a football move, it's a lifestyle move. It tells me the player is weak and his wife runs his life. "

if the above is correct and what GN says is correct we will always be a mediocre club with no decent names coming to us and if we do produce a star someone will always step in and take them off us.

My point was simply that us, the fans, should back off from slagging the club off as signing quality players will be hard for a club in our position.

However, if Gus can assemble a squad that plays decent football, get a top 10 finish this season and push onto a top 6-8 next season, then the lure of European football, and a club who is solid top half of the table, might just allow us to push on for the better quality players.

Keano was correct, if payers put lifestyle ahead of their football we do not want them up here. The ones that do sign should then hopefully perform! However, the likes of Cabral are the other side of the coin where a champions league player signs up then hates the area so stops playing!

LG did state that our transfers could
go all the way to deadline day so 'Keep The Faith' and 'Dare to Dream'!

It's difficult for safc as we need to be higher up the league to attract better players but need better players to get us up the league!
Doesn't help when as soon as we get someone half decent the board cash in on them

If Remy ain't joining LFC. Why don't we go for him. Had a great season and he is almost half Fabios price. Still have respect for Borini. Hopen1if the two can be on wearside

He failed a medical, why would we want him? Yes he had a good season, he seems to be a ticking time bomb injury wise though, and we already have fletcher for that.
