Well done on getting Whickham. Although for him to be deemed a success, he will need to hit the ground running (and scoring). If you will be relying on him to score the goals, then i would be worried. Good prospect for the future though, i hope that you give the lad more of a chance than you did with Henderson (booing him, after a dip in form, given his age was shocking).

Oh dear, just read the full details of the transfer. So you have paid around 8 million rising to 13 million. Fair enough (not worth that much, but whatever). Whickham would not sign the contract unless there was a release clause written in (not sure how much for), and you have agreed to give Ipswich a percentage of the sell on fee. Jesus, you lot were desperate to land him weren't you. How much are you paying him?

Wickham not in the same class as chopra, Ipswich website says Its a deal that we coulnt turn down, 8m up front then add ons for Connor has made us very happy and good luck to the lad, We signed a proven championship striker in Chopra for a fraction of that fee and after all, Connor scored 13 goals in 62 games and has a lot to learn. Denba Ba free, Wickham 8m, 5 grand to any muckem who wants to bet who scores more premier goals next season. SMB SMB
The difference is Wickham is not a SGB like Chopra who didn't have the balls to score against the Scum when giving the chance hence sent out on loan the next day by Keane.

Yes SAFC had 1 more point but then NUFC had just been promoted so that was expected but if we both don't get some quality in and someone who can score then both teams will struggle. Wont be any 15 million pound signings. that we know already if we are honest but i think you will find that transfer window in europe opens on the 1st of july and all these players who have signed technically havent yet just agrred to sign

Wickham may turn out to be a great signing score 20+ goals get a couple england caps, but at the end of the season when you's get relegated he will go to a bigger club for half of what you paid. And lets be honest just about every other team in the premiership would be a step up from you's lot. SMB'S

If you had a scout as good as graham carr then you would be able to get 4 players of cheick tiote's calibre for less than 13 million a know which i would rather have. Right howay sunderland fans get real, he is unproven untested, looked awful in the england under 21's. but he has huge potential. is he worth 12m? takin a huge gamble and its alllot of money for a club to pay for a 'one for he future'. bruce trys to ease his signings in by not throwing them in at the deepend straight away, but for 12m wickham will have to shine straight away and I don't think he is ready, expect wickham to be a flop this year

Just a question for debate.
Keep hearing about n'zogbia but do we need him or a more high profile striker? to be first choice with Wickam and won as up. As sess will be a star attacking midfielder next season.
