Heard we will be trying for loans this window unless poyet can raise his own fund by selling. If Altidore goes we will invest in a CB. Poyet is trying to get Joel Campbell on loan so he can push wickham into the middle. Other than that might see a bid for Ings if Alitdore goes. Don't expect many signings this window poyet will wait till the summer.

Agree mr mackem we seen to be doing the poundstretcher approach this January .surely Short must know if he doesn't invest we are going to get relegated and that will be a terrible situation ! or is he bothered ? as the display today was unacceptable and we are now 1 point above a relegation place !

Well if yesterdays performance was anything to go by i will drive to liverpool and bring borini back myself
we were shocking borini was by far better than anything we could throw at him that is possibly the worst display i have seen for a long time
there are no positives to take away from this and to cap it all alvarez who was unavailable due to illness was on the bench what's that all about wasted seat on the bench for me and gus bargain basement shopping rarely pays off

{Ed001's Note - if someone is sick, why not give a youth team player a chance? Sunderland must have a kid who could do better than Danny Graham?? My nan would be better than Danny Graham and she is in her 80s, got a plastic hip and needs a zimmer frame just to stand up!}

Poyet's obsession with a style of football the players are not able to produce, complete lack of tactical or motivational skills and woeful performance in the transfer market have made an already poor squad even worse. A thoroughly miserable Christmas period yielded one point from what was a dire performance against an almost equally inept Villa, and we have now lost four times to those footballing giants Hull, in little more than a year, twice at home. Unless Poyet's miracle is an annual event, we look sunk this time.

Ed i'm one for giving youth a chance that's why I backed Ronald koeman to get the job the last 3 times the job became available as I saw how much interest he shows in youth when he was coaching in Holland. but why the danny graham abuse the lad has had nothing but cameo appearance since he came bar the 3-0 win at sid james where he had a hand in every goal, the problem we have at the club lies within the roots of the club we have had too many managers who are influenced by players at the club when pdc tried to stop this the players got together and the rests history and before anyone replies about pdc i'm not saying he was the man for the job but some of the things he said about the club seems true. we now have a manager who has been saying for weeks the same crap yet he sticks with the players who have nearly taken us down the last 2 seasons and will surely do the job this season. he tries tactics which I don't like but 2 be truthful he doesn't have the players good enough. the final straw for me this season was the performance by the players and managers tactics in the loss to hull 1 man up front against a side who hadnt scored for nearly 400 mins if he carries on with these tactics we are down and the fans will turn on him and he will walk before the end of the season but it will be to late the damage is done

Im not sure if Poyet knows what his best team is ? he's asking for more players fair enough but a lot of this squad is his players and choice so he has to take some responsibility for the clubs poor position ! Agree with the youth the likes of Mandron Agnew and Whatmore should have been giving a chance before now !

The fact Poyets style of football isn't working surely must resinate to him?. playing strikers like wickam on the wing is so negative we need a 4-4-2 system with 2 strikers to win games . its so boring playing Poyets passing games with players who aren't good enough to use that system . back to basics Gus !

I can't understand ED how Graham played so well at Swansea and so badly for us ?. perhaps its attitude ?

{Ed001's Note - was he really that good for Swansea? For me he still looked average, he was just getting plenty of chances because of their wingers always looking to hit it at him every chance they got. It was more a tactical thing that got the very best from his limited ability than him playing outstanding, in my opinion. Unless Poyet changes to wingers getting into crossing positions and hitting them in at every opportunity, Graham will always look like a lost little boy out there.

Sad thing is, every striker you have seems to be a big lump who would thrive from crosses into the box, but Poyet is persisting with a style that will only see them struggle. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the tactics per se, but they are not being suited to the players at his disposal, which is surely the point of tactics? You pick them to suit the players you have. If you want to change your tactics then you have to buy players to suit the way you want to play before you change them.}

Lets be honest here, I am not one to abuse managers and players but Poyet now has to accept some blame.

The system he plays needs quality players and attackers with pace, and I mean real pace!

Against Hull and Liverpool, both teams that play with three CB's, we had one striker with almost no support as the other two 'Attackers' were tracking their attacking wing backs. Even if we won a header they picked up the second phase ball!!

I know he had to start again after the 0-8 at Southampton but he needs to adapt his formation to combat the opposition rather than stick with the same set up every game.

Most teams now press us high as they know we play from the back and we simply aren't good enough quality wise to get passed them.

I wonder why the likes of Cabral, Mavrias, Whatmore, Mandron, Agnew etc don't get a look in other than the bench. Can they be worse than what we are producing at the moment?

I must also say that Gomez had an absolute stinker on Saturday and should have been replaced at half time.

To conclude on a plus note Seb Larsson has improved massively this season, although still not a world beater.

Poyets system is a good system and would work with a few additions to the side, need more quality all round!

Wickham will score goal up front!

Need at least two more wingers (with pace), another striker, two centre backs and a right back that can actually overlap and cross a ball.

Players will perform better when there is competition for places.

Managers invariably play their signings irrespective of whether they play well or not and Gomez and Vergini are 2 good examples of this ! Gus must drop players who aren't performing !
