Why oh why do we play the old players

We bought their replacements, yet, they don't play

GK WESTWOOD
RB CELUSTKA
CB DIAKITE
CB ROBERGE
LB COLBACK
CM CATTERMOLE
CM KI
LAM GIACCHERINI
RAM MAVRIAS
ST FLETCHER
ST ALTIDORE

Westwood-makes great saves, don't have a replacement if he turns crap or gets injured though
Celustka-Usually solid
Diakite-Everything we need in a centre back, quick, strong, great in the air and sweeps attacks away with ease plenty if times
Roberge-always very cool, calm on the ball and very tidy in winning possession
Colback-Mr, Reliable, know idea why he didn't play against Swansea
Catts-Fantastic, great captain and protects the back 4 amazingly
Ki-Our playmaker, makes space for himself, lays it off, moves forward and gets it back, simple but effective
Mavrias- IMO better than Johnson, he WANTS to be involved, full of tricks and pace and gets us further up the field
Giaccherini-brilliant, he deserves better than us, unfortunately
Altidore-strong on the ball, bullies defenders but still needs a goal
Fletcher-No9

Spot on mr makem surely someone at the club can see the old guard are past their best and I think the new lads given the chance will get results they will never sort it out if the has beens at the club are allowed to remain in the first team k ball is a legend but I think he had no vision he like the others was pandering to the no marks who got all previous managers the heave ho let's have some new blood on the pitch please

2.) 21 Oct 2013
Thats the exact same team I would pick, Poyet needs to look at these banter pages, that team is a midtable side but are struggling why does every manager insist on playing O'shea, Larsson who are too slow, bardsley was decent 1st half but his lack of game time showed, the own goal was not his fault, but he should be number 2 right back not left back, johnson, larsson, osh*te, gards need dropping

3.) 21 Oct 2013
Totally agree, it's time to give the new blood a chance and move out the dead wood at Christmas to give Poyet a chance to do some tinkering of hi own.

4.) 21 Oct 2013
I hope and pray that Kevin Ball picked the team for Swansea and Poyet has enough about him to drop the old guard.

5.) 21 Oct 2013
Sorry but 4-4-2 does not work any more. Giaccherini is also not a winger. He has looked much more productive and effective in the central support role.

I would possibly look at the following: -

GK Westwood
RB Celustka / Bardsley (Celustka is still tweeting re Turkey all the time)
RCB Diakite / Brown
LCB Roberge
LB Dossena
DCM Colback / Cabral
DCM Cattermole / Ki
LAM Johnson
CAM Giaccherini / Borini
RAM Mavrias / Karlsson
ST Fletcher / Altidore

The options can be subs along with Whickham, Ba and Gardner

I would sell JOS, SL, CC, DV without a second thought and if possible DG to Hull if they will take him even though he hasn't scored.

In Jan I would look at getting N'Diaye back if possible as well.

Colback should play LB

Catts and Ki should both play,
If Catts plays we won't have anyone to break up attacks and protect the defence, if Ki doesn't play we won't have a playmaker
Do you really think Johnson deserves to play, he is terrible

2 at the front could work, it all depends who we play and what we set out to do in the game
Yes, if its Man City etc, 1 up front otherwise we will get thumped, but if its a team who are equal to us (there isn't any worse at the moment) we could press high up the pitch which will give us more opportunities to score, but the defence and midfield has got to be tight for it to work
I remember when we won Chelsea 3-0 I was dumbfounded when I heard we played 2 up front but it worked, why? Simply because we had an attacking intent, we chased down everything and attacked in numbers, QUICKLY

7.) 21 Oct 2013
It's supposed to say
"If Catts does not play"

8.) 23 Oct 2013
Ok, go 4-2-1-1-2 then

GK - Westwood
RB - Celuska
CB - Brown
CB - Diakite
LB - Dossena
DCM - Cattermole
DCM - Colback
CM - Ki
ACM - Giaccherini
ST - Altidore
ST - Fletcher

Subs - Mannone, Roberge, Cabral, Gardner, Johnson, Mavrias, Borini
