Anyone heard anymore on Welbeck and Paolo Guerrero?

BILLYSUNDERLAND

1.) 21 Aug 2014 21:28:58
The papers say he is having contract talks with MU because he is worried he may not get 1st team games

2.) I've read in a couple places Poyet isn't even looking at Welback.

3.) Welbeck has been told he can leave after his asked for talks about his playing time. Arsenal and Tottenham are looking at him but they probably can't offer much first team action either. Time to bid in my opinion. Ha'way the lads.

Sunderland are moving for Oscar Duarte

Why won't the club just identify and target two experienced CBs? We missed out on Lescott and Caulker- please don't let Dawson, Richards, Van Dijk get away- recognise we have very poor defence that conceded more goals than any other team that stayed up (bar one) and strengthen the area where we are weakest.

I'm so happy with the Will Buckley signing I think he'll adapt to the premier league quickly, along with Johnson on other wing. We 've got some pace in the side this season

BILLYSUNDERLAND

1.) 14 Aug 2014 16:05:53
He reminds me of former player Don Hutchinson and if he can replicate his Brighton form he'll do well! and we have a history of classic wingers including Clive Walker and Alan Johnston so I hope he does well. good signing!

2.) 14 Aug 2014 18:37:49
Buckley scored the goal that knocked newcastle out of the FA cup so already a Sunderland hero!

3.) Can I ask how he reminds you of Don Hutchison because from what I have seen he plays nor looks anything like him. Its like saying Altidore reminds me of Archie Gemill

4.) Was Don Hutchinson ever a classic winger?

5.) 14 Aug 2014 22:44:31
Ive Heard Borini wants to come here but on loan!. i'd take that!. we are also after FC Brugges Costa Rican defender Oscar Duarte who apparantly scores a few goals for a defender!

6.) 15 Aug 2014 00:21:07
Don Hutchinson? talish a bit gangly and scored goals bit like Buckley . hopefully!. we may even nickname him Buck Rodgers if he scores a few important goals lol!

Someone will already been looked at weeks ago for managers job before gus got sacked . but I think big name managers bring big name players and that's what we need

BILLYSUNDERLAND

1.) How exactly do we pay these "big name players" We can't, simple as that, there's no way we can handle even paying 60k a week really never mind 100k-300k for the big name players, as it is we've got no name players on decent wages which is crushing our ability to get anyone to strengthen our squad, which is threadbare to begin with.

2.) Yeah your right mate . maybe another clear out? Maybe we need hungry players?

3.) Still think a big name manager will bring in "better players"

4.) 16 Mar 2015 20:31:48
Heard they want McLaren full time Avadcatt temp ? hope that's wrong !

5.) I think it's more a more knowledgeble manager would bring in better players. There are many players in the championship who could make the jump to premiership, we see it every year, the trick is getting them when they're cheap and available.

As for clearing out the team I agree, yet that'll not happen with the silly contracts being chucked around like to o'shae & brown. They're past it, too slow and can't keep a decent line without folding into the keeper every time, mainly because they can't catch anyone.

The three main issues I and many can see at the club are these
1) the drinking culture, they're obviously not properly fit as they fall off in the last 30 minutes instead of how we used to be under reid where the last ten minutes we would run most other teams into the ground.
2) Player power, too many egos on too much money that can sabotage any new manager, that's not going to change till there's a massive clear out.
3) The Owner & board, they've backed every manage to the hilt letting them buy whoever without really understanding how football works, how players and positions intertwine and how not having a decent squad depth can destroy you.

We can fix 3, get more people on the board who actually understand football as well as business, 2 we can't do anything about till contracts run out/retire or we can offload them. Which sadly is hard as anything since nobody wants to come here unless it's on silly money.
As for 1. this is the hardest, Di Canio tried to change this even though he went ten leagues to the crazy house trying to do it, he was spot on with there being a problem behind the players and until that's stamped out, we're screwed.

Don't mean to be negative but I'm predicting a 3 -0 defeat off Swansea. please safc prove me wrong!!!
Why is it teams like Hull, Swansea & Southampton progress and we tread water?

Nothing changes!!! And We're knackered if Whickham gets injured!.

BILLYSUNDERLAND

1.) What will we miss if he does? I'm betting he'll be sold in January.

I reckon tonight's result will give us all an idea how the rest of the season will plan out

BILLYSUNDERLAND

1.) 23 Sep 2014 21:46:11
Unhappily. Scraping along in the Premier basement with an inadequate defence, a surplus of under-performing midfielders and a group of forwards who will will struggle to get 20 goals between them. How very disappointing this this team is, how very depressing to hear the same old excuses.

I personally think the team is a lot stronger now, my one concern is getting Connor Whickhams contract renewed

BILLYSUNDERLAND

I "heard" today that it was the agent because he wouldn't be getting any of the fee why he didn't Join SAFC and that's why the QPR deal came up resulting in Borini turning the move down on personal terms

I'm glad Whickham didn't go, I reckon he's in for a good season. He's big, strong and will cause problems rather have him in team then playing against him
