Steven Fletcher has just put his house up for sale. looks like that's him gone.

26 Jan 2016 08:12:33
Sunderland make enquiry about debuchy (hope this is true) . not sure we should pay 10mil plus borini for ayew. we should try to lure vidic as he is now a free agent. if we got all three of these I would be happy. not so happy to lose borini.

Agree0 Disagree1

26 Jan 2016 17:17:22
2013/ 14, 59 goals conceded. 2014/ 15, 53 goals conceded.
so far this season, 46 goals conceded in 23 games- at that rate it will be 76 by the end of the season! And no sensible centreback signed over that period, just a combination hasbeens, misfits and loans who don't even get a game. Meanwhile, we continue to parade a centreback pairing who have combined age of 72 and do a good imitation of a revolving door. Yes, we really need another winger, absolute priority.
I suppose Sam's luck had to run out sometime, after all, it is not as if he seemed to know what he was doing since he arrived. We have had it, and the bloated squad of losers we have won't get us back up either. Short may have spent millions, but he has always spent it grudgingly and too late, so we have never signed much more than those no-one else wanted, though we have still paid over the odds and paid silly wages. Total re-building job required, while the gap between Premier and the rest gets ever bigger.

26 Jan 2016 17:42:09
the whole transfer sagas show that if this club is to move forward we need a football brain and experience in the boardroom! the headless chicken scenario goes on! we have a mis match of players some still here some on loan and we need a massive clearout! can you see Short wanting to stay in charge if we are in the Championship? Shame we couldn't get Nial Quinn back at least as a football director!

26 Jan 2016 17:45:15
Agree poi2311 Borini I feel won't be here next season but we need to keep him for now! the Ayew fee (if true) is ridiculous and borders on a panic buy! Debucy yes definatly and what's happened to the young Norwegian international left back supposed to be signing for us!?

18 Jan 2016 23:22:38
It gets from bad to worse at this club with Pants going to Watford? I think Manonone is the worse keeper . and with a BIG club like Norwich spending £16 million on a striker and defender we spend £750.000 on a rubbish defender and a loan for a striker! . UNBELIVABLE! . we need a football oriented board. Short should go as he's only interested in pocketing the premiership money. and spending zilch. well end up another Leeds!

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jan 2016 20:47:27
Pocketing what money? He's ploughed over 300million into the team, and the team runs at a loss every year which he again tops up. You have a very strange idea of pocketing money considering he's losing out each year so far. You're also obsessed with teams being smaller than us, news flash we're not exactly setting the world on fire, indeed we've been barely scraping by for years now in the top flight.

Again, we're boned until we offload most of our team, which we can't do as other teams are not stupid enough to pay what we've paid. This means the only way to get rid is for their contracts to wind down. Why did they not sell Vito? Because they couldn't it's pretty obvious.

19 Jan 2016 21:25:59
If shorts spent 300million it's his fault he appointed the so called director of football and the others. Has not a clue about the game, i'm afraid it's time to GO.

19 Jan 2016 21:49:53
Agree saac, Yes he ploughed SOME money but has done it with a headless chicken thought process, hiring bad staff, taking bad advice! you would think he would learn, we were better under the irish consortium with the football brain of Nial Quinn in charge! Short hasn't a clue what he's doing or in which direction the club is heading!

19 Jan 2016 21:53:03
Wyndrusher we've sold Pants because he's on more money than Vito simple. its about money not ability and IMO Pants is a better more competent keeper than Vito! its a Shame we are looking at that option, hopefully Sam will use the sale money wisely!

19 Jan 2016 23:34:12
Heard fee for Pants was £500,000? your joking!? this club is becoming a laughing stock!

22 Jan 2016 23:23:51
Think The Harper signing is a great move. good experience for Pickford and personally if called on think he's a better keeper than Mannonie . can't beleive some of the negative comments from fans.

12 Jan 2016 17:17:52
Apparently we are close to signing Tonny Vilhena from Feyenoord for 12 million. He is a 21 year old Dutch playmaker who can play on the wing too. Southampton want him but apparently we have got him.

Agree0 Disagree1

16 Jan 2016 16:37:16
I'll believe it when it happens.

17 Jan 2016 23:43:55
We need quality after the spurs match in which Big Sam got it wrong tactical AGAIN! Why are we looking in the bargain basement when teams like Bournemouth are spending millions to stay up? . is Short really interested in this club?

10 Jan 2016 17:03:28
Just saw that we are looking to swap DEFOE for GOMIS!?!? this is utterly ridiculous, if this happ Es I will not be happy.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2016 18:39:27
Dame n'doye looks nearly confirmed been hearing we are linked with striker called babacar any truh in this for 11 mil aswell.

12 Jan 2016 00:08:31
£11.2 million? beleive that when it happens! . on the swap i'd rather swap our board with a football knowledged one!

12 Jan 2016 01:42:44
Altidore mark II.

12 Jan 2016 15:27:04
I See the Toon are after Shelvey? wish we would go for him but this Poundland scenario is going to get us relegated! does Short really know or care how much the club will lose if we go down?

08 Jan 2016 21:12:50
Dame N'Doye coming in on loan according to Turkish reports.

Agree2 Disagree1

07 Jan 2016 14:48:53
Kone deal off looks like, he rejected us like his team mate didn't want relegation fight.

Caulker prob back up now to give us Kirchhoff brown Oshea Kabul and Coates as CB.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jan 2016 16:53:43
I think he wasn't happy with the money offered and we tried to drop the transfer fee but think they didn't want to sell him in the first place by the attitude of lorients chairman? mind Sunderlands transfers are always complex! nothing unusual there! again the Poundland scenario!

07 Jan 2016 18:38:12
Think prob didn't want to risk his wages being handed next season. Can't imagine us being insulted with fees, but can't blame short for being tight with money making sure it's quality money spent, after £20m on fletch and graham. To note the overpaid players.

07 Jan 2016 21:45:09
Actually i'd like us to raid some of the promising players in the lower leauges like Watmore! . and we need to blood more from the U21 starting this weekend in the FA cup!

07 Jan 2016 23:57:35
Right kirchoff signed who next for the lads?

08 Jan 2016 19:08:12
Looks like we actually pulled out fee agreed but pulled out with Kirchhoff deal going through. Lorient ain't happy with us for it?

06 Jan 2016 13:26:07
Kirchhoff almost a Sunderland player as long a as medical passed and contract agreed.

Can see this being very likely as only played for Bayern a handful of times.

Heard though he maybe likely to get injured a fair amount like Jones did when he first joined.

But £1M bargain but defo need at least a another CB hopefully we can beat Norwich etc. To caulker.

Kone might be unlikely with his team mate rejecting us he might decided to do so for same reasons.

Long term get Matip to join in summer if we stay up.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jan 2016 15:30:15
Why can't we buy a player that hasn't got an injury problem? . apparently its an Achilles problem which has had surgery and he has had issues since! great! mind if he passes the medical than he must be ok? hope so!

06 Jan 2016 22:31:50
Just wanted to know if anyone else could possibly arriving apart from kone or caulker?

07 Jan 2016 12:46:44
BrownCat Matip could be realistically there are our main targets as Matip unlikely to join to summer if at all. There could be some moves being made that are being kept secret from press though.

03 Jan 2016 21:34:14
Jan Kirchhoff (Bayern Munich), Joel Matip (Shalke) and Caulker (QPR loan at Southampton) . Two are more CB to sign with these being main targets and Kirchhoff and Matip being visible with respective clubs looking to avoid them going on bowman in summer.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Jan 2016 12:44:23
Jan kirchoff or kone according to rumours and what I've just heard off ssn but why not both?

04 Jan 2016 12:44:23
Jan kirchoff or kone according to rumours and what I've just heard off ssn but why not both?

04 Jan 2016 18:07:01
Cos might go for Caulker as second CB if he comes availble. Matip will prob got to Liverpool etc. If they come in but would be a coup if he signs.

{Ed002's Note - The only confirmation I have regarding Caulker is that Norwich are keeping an open mind and have asked to be kept informed whilst Sunderland have looked at him. Crystal Palace were previously interested and I suspect that interest has moved on.

Schalke's Joel Matip has been watched by Sunderland, Marseille, Newcastle and Liverpool but will not be available in January with the club rather letting his contract run down as opposed to having their season disrupted - unless of course someone were to pay way over the odds. Schalke will try and get him to sign a new contract and have already rejected approaches from Liverpool and Sunderland to take him in January. The lady from Marseille tells me that they have stepped back and will not be pursuing their interest any further at this time. Whilst I can't see him as being any more than a Toure replacement at Liverpool, Klopp is very keen and will look to the club negotiating a pre-contract agreement if they are not willing to pay way over the odds now.}

06 Jan 2016 13:21:30
Cheers aped.

06 Jan 2016 16:48:05
Sorry typo cheers Ed02

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

03 Jan 2016 15:58:17
ED what's the truth in the rumour that the Janurary signings are subject too a 50% drop in their wages written into their contract if we are relegated? does that mean well be only signing loanees?

{Ed024's Note - That's a fairly standard clause in contracts started back in Quinns time as chairman. It certainly makes it harder to sign quality players but the players agent normally inserts a reasonable sell on value if the club are relegated so its all swings and roundabouts. Given that EPL wages are higher than the rest of Europe I would only expect non EPL players signing on permanent deals.}

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jan 2016 22:15:13
Ed any truth in the Caulker or Lansbury rumours? Plenty of other names being thrown about but haven't heard as much about these two.

{Ed001's Note - Caulker is no longer wanted at Saints, so QPR are looking for a new home to loan him to. Sunderland are interested, but that is as far as it has got so far. I don't know anything about the Lansbury rumours sorry.}

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2016 12:38:45
Sound mate cheers.

{Ed001's Note - the Forest fans seem to think Lansbury is not worth having to be honest.}

03 Jan 2016 15:36:59
To be fair I haven't seen a lot of him since he played for England 21's! One of them with all the potential back then but didn't really kick on!

I'd rather go after a couple of CB's and a striker! Possibly a winger and/ or a no.10 as well!

Pickford the best keeper in the squad needs a chance to cement his place!

03 Jan 2016 15:47:43
I see Pickford may play against Arsenal in next weeks FA cup game! Also Bournmouth are wanting Defoe but after Defoe's performance against Villa yesterday the board and Big Sam all want sacking if we sell him in our present predicament! Talk about scoring an own goal?

{Ed024's Note - Got to assume Sam wont sell unless he has a proven goalscorer lined up as a replacement.}

31 Dec 2015 21:46:32
Heard that we're signing a CB from Leyton Orient as soon as it opens. We're going to The Fourth Division for First Division quality? What next!

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Jan 2016 11:59:12
he might be a gem lol, but I am sick of hearing about this FFP rules it's a rule for the big clubs but how do Manchester United spend £250 mil and stay with in the rule but you have to take into account wages which is £190mil plus so £440mil I know they are a big club but come on I think safc use this rule has a excuse not to buy players if we don't buy better players we are down and how much money will we lose? Break the rules get a fine bet the fine is not has big has the lose of revenue if we drop? So come on hand in pocket or sell the club!

{Ed002's Note - You need to understand the rules better I am afraid.}

01 Jan 2016 16:01:57
Ed its not about the rules the point I was trying to make was how do you compete? With the so called big clubs if they can spent that kind of money with the amount of income which they seem to generate so Ed how do you Compete?

{Ed002's Note - Sunderland are not expected to compete with Manchester United in the spending.}

02 Jan 2016 09:50:24
But expected to stop in EPL? but the rate we are going the championship might be too much for us any way in the transfer window we don't compete.

{Ed002's Note - I don't understand your obsession of competing with Manchester United.}

03 Jan 2016 12:17:08
i may be mistaken but is it not the French team lorient that we are signing CB and not leyton orient? he is called Kone. maybe if I am right you need to read better.

03 Jan 2016 14:57:12
Yes sorry I was mistaken. L'Orient not Leyton Orient my mistake ;)

13 Dec 2015 17:36:42
See we are after fc ectricht Striker Haller! well after another tactical disaster from big Sam! ignoring the talents of Defoe and Lens AGAIN! . we need a miracle! . anyone thinks Big Sam can keep this lot up? and what players he needs to bring in in Janurary!

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Dec 2015 00:21:58
I See now Lens has been transfer listed because of refusing to to train after the Watford match! can it get any worse for this club? the Big Sam dream seems to be evaporating?

21 Dec 2015 23:46:36
If lens is going to spit his dummy out after his manager telling him what to do he deserves to be dropped, these a re professional footballers, if we refused to do what our bosses told us they would do the same, he shouldn't get special treatment for being one of our better players.

24 Dec 2015 00:26:32
I agree with him being disciplined but still feel he should be given a chance in the team as at the moment we are playing Toivinian who is tottaly useless! its like playing with ten men! . we need to play creative players like Lens! hopefully the manager will give him a chance! as its going to be the same story of getting rid of a player at the fraction of the price we paid for him!

26 Dec 2015 17:05:57
Sam? that was an absolute joke today! playing Graham instead of Defoe? its getting worse under Sam! what's next? its embarrassing and a total shambles! we are a joke!

10 Nov 2015 21:42:07
Let's all be honest. We are rubbish and have been for 4 seasons. An ageing squad with the same bad players still here. O'SHea brown cattermole . A miracle is needed but mark my words we will go down this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Nov 2015 00:02:23
I can't beleive that Brown was given a contract when he's never been fit for months! and why Rodwell was bought and not taken on loan to ascertain his fitness? big mistakes have been made at boardroom, scouting, buying players, management and coaching and football knowledge and tactics! and until we solve these problems we could end up another Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday etc etc.!

29 Oct 2015 15:15:12
How could Big Sam be serious about signing a striker when O'Shea is out for 2-3 weeks minimum, Kaboul has a knock, Coates is rubbish, and Wes Brown is 36? And when they were fit they let in 19 goals in 9 games! We need a better CB. Yedlin is doing well at RB and so is Jones at LB, but we certainly need some quality in the middle. I don't know how much more obvious it needs to be.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Nov 2015 23:54:07
Agree that was another shambles! defensively we looked all over the place paticularlay down the left side AGAIN! why play Tovonian . Brown when they aren't match fit? play them in the u21s for a few games and why why why why isn't Watmore not starting? again under successive managers he gets ignored?

Even Roberge would have been better than Brown today! all we want for Christmas is 2 centre backs! play the u21 defence it can't be any worse than this shambolic defence! you mentioned Jones he was badly out of position for 2 of there goals! not good enough!

02 Nov 2015 12:21:20
Agree jones is not a CB. I'm not sure why he was started at there ahead of Rodwell who has more experience and is better in the air. Coates just need to go far, far away. I'd honestly rather have Vergini at CB. Surely there is someone better than what we have right now in the bosman market. That said, I think a 3-5-2 could work with the right back 3. I've been hoping for that formation for a while now. But Coates, Brown, and Jones are not the right back 3, but unfortunately they're all we've got at the moment if he's not going to play the kids.

03 Nov 2015 00:56:59
Yes Big Sam has to hold his hands up playing 3 at the back was a recipe for disaster! probably better playing Graham at centre back! lol what about playing Larsson at right back! he has played there before and performed well! Yes we all want Vergini back now lol! I just hope Ellis Short releases some funds in Janurary or our goal difference is going to be embarrassing!

05 Nov 2015 10:54:08
Its worrying about the youth policy at this club! we have a england keeper on loan at Preston when he should be pushing Pants for place in the team! same goes for Watmore Gooch and several other youngsters paticuly when the u21s are doing so well and the first team so badly! that says the fooball knowlege at the top end of this club ie Congerton, Byrne and Short isn't very good and we need someone to come in and make sensible football decisions at this club! as usual fans know more about football than the people who are running this club!

30 Dec 2015 11:41:28
Poor Sam or whoever took this job. we have 4 good players, the rest well you see it week in week out. the fact is, Mr short messed up, he should have recruited back room staff and board members who were football people then stuck by a manager. he's took the easy way out, sack managers, now his luck has ran out.

its no good getting how big Sam's back, this has been coming for 5 years. as for Lens, that's what you get when you buy foreign players with big egos, look at Chelsea. Short needs to start letting managers sign players and get some football people in to run Sunderland. well let's hope we get 5 good plays in and hope for the best, but stick by SAM!

20 Oct 2015 09:08:11
We need a win and quick! What better way to start than beating the mags. Come on lads show us what you're made of this Sunday!

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Oct 2015 18:57:37
3 pts and the season starts playing against a poor defending team with a poor goale
Only one tesult here.

21 Oct 2015 16:44:42
We definatly need to start winning and that is the players responsibility now! . Defoe wants to start well he has to start scoring goals and we need to provide the chances for him . I just hope against the barcodes we play 4-4-2 and go for it and with the crowd behind us well get the 3 points! and if we can't score against that terrible Newcastle defence we deserve to be bottom of the leaugue!

23 Oct 2015 11:24:33
See Congerton is still there given the task of helping with signing s? he's one of the reasons we in in the state we are and we are keeping him for at least 12 months! it gets worse at this club!

13 Oct 2015 12:34:33
Ok Then

I have seen and been part of a couple of posts (one has now been deleted) where Ed 002 has taken offence to us the fans (in his words) being disrespectful to the club and players.

From me personally my posts have been constructive and my own opinions rather than outright 'slagging off' the club and players.

We all know that our squad is oversized with players who have not cut the premier league grade. Our policy of overpaying slightly means that other clubs won't match the wages and therefore these players don't want to leave. We are therefore in the dreaded never ending circle where we can't revamp the squad properly without making a massive financial loss.

Coupled with this, the players who are of sufficient premier league stature, are very low on confidence so performance levels have dropped. Again, the never ending circle effect where we need to win a few matches, keeping clean sheets and our strikers scoring goals.

We also have, as per my previous posts, a core of longer serving players who may or may not be manipulating the squad from within.

I therefore just want to ask Ed 002 what his genuine thoughts are on the quality of our first team squad and how many of our last starting line up would he keep and how may he would transfer list and try to move on from the club? Also, how many players not in the starting line up would he promote to play?

{Ed002's Note - There are some very good and very committed players in the squad but it needs work - and there are players who need to show how good they can be (Jordi Gomez is a very good player who needs to sort himself out). Again M'Vila can do a lot for the club. But the defence still needs work - Coates was a poor buy, Brown's time has come, Jones has not impressed that much, Matthews won't set the world alight. If Kaboul can stay clear of these knee injuries and settle in the team he will be a very good addition. Yedlin is well thought of at home - but it is too early to tell if he has a future in the EPL. And the strikers are not working out - I think Defoe would probably be best coming on from the bench once another striker comes in. Graham is completely unconvincing and doesn't get the goal. Borini runs hot and cold but again doesn't get the goals. Fletcher works hard and is probably the pick of the bunch right now. The club need to look for a proven striker in January and perhaps an additional central defender. I imagine the manager will look to Kevin Nolan to help out in midfield. Priority will be to stay up.}

Agree1 Disagree1

15 Oct 2015 14:51:44
Mainly fair assessment there Ed.

I agree Jones is what I would call a 'Plodder' Nothing bad but nothing great. He is however better than PVA at this time so he would start LB for me unless they promote young Robson from the U21's.

Yedlin has good attacking attributes but as you state time will tell if he can defend as well.

Brown was a strange contract renewal. If he isn't in line to start any matches we could have saved money there. I can however see that we had not back up so he was needed in case of injuries.

I agree about Coates simply not being good enough and also about Kaboul. He has been criticised but he was left open massively back lack of cover from PVA and the DCM's in front.

Gomez for me is too slow all round. He has had too many bad games for me where he can not pass, slows the counter attack pace down, can't tackle and so on so he fits into the Coates bracket for me.

Graham just isn't good enough. Good work ethic but quality and talent simply isn't there. Borini has another great work ethic but needs to play in the same position and same formation every week to score goals. Fletcher has confidence at the minute so could come good. Defoe is like Borini where he needs the right formation to work for him.

Me personally would not like Nolan here, too old and not being kept by West Ham tells you everything you need to know.

LB, CB and quality Striker needed in Jan and I would maybe recall Pickford in goal until Costel can learn to kick, distribute the ball faster and start coming off his line again to catch crosses and corners.

I do not think we are far off winning games. If we can sort out the defence I think we will score goals and confidence is everything!

17 Oct 2015 02:24:35
The youth situation is getting worse we are willing to loan out Watmore with a year left on his contract and well be giving him away for nothing the same with Pickford! why can't this club recognize we can't go on ignoring the youth talent at this club and it looks as if Big Sam is another one doing the same! . we never learn from our mistakes at this club! if the likes of Spurs and Manchester United recognize Pickford as a future England goalkeeper why doesn't this club? another example of lack of vision and a blinkered approach to the young players!

11 Oct 2015 21:36:25
Fletcher 5 goals in 3 games. Maybe a bit confidence and a return to goalscoring form?

Agree1 Disagree0

12 Oct 2015 10:22:09
no offence mate and some of his goals were top draw but I think you or myself could score against gibraltar but like you said hopefully this will help restore his confidence or at least put him in the transfer window

12 Oct 2015 10:52:45
Couldn't agree more about the quality of the opposition last night but three goals either way, a decent finish against Poland, and a half decent against West Ham so hopefully it restarts the habit of scoring.

And even against poor opposition scoring will hopefully breed some confidence as well.

If he can put similar effort into the next few games like he did against West Ham then we might start to see the Fletcher of the first season he signed.

Plus he will be after a new contract as well so you never know!

11 Oct 2015 13:34:35
I'd like to welcome big Sam to our great club and wish him all the best. Bring us some thing to be proud of Sam I'm sure the whole of the stadium of light will be behind you. Ha'way the lads!!!

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Oct 2015 23:24:14
Like him or not well have to give him our support . I just hope he doesn't ignore the talented kids we have here!

12 Oct 2015 10:23:54
like I've said on other posts on here bob and what I said about dick sam is another manager who has never been noted for giving youth a chance mate

12 Oct 2015 13:55:05
As a west ham fan I have witnessed BFS at his best and worst. You are in for a long season, everyone loves him who never had em at their club. wait and see, you will be begging for poyet to come back. The young players you have will have to take a back seat once he signs Joey O'brien and nolan. You never know, you could survive another year, you have recuited some good players this year. Gluck with the rest of the season lads!

09 Oct 2015 08:33:55
I'm slightly concerned now about the recruitment of our next manager. There are a few 'Ex' managers now coming out and eventually making comments that are worrying.

Roy Keane has basically said "If they left me alone and stopped interfering then I would probably still be manager" If it goes that far back then we really do have massive problems at high levels within the club.

Big Sam - Not for me personally but he will do a job and will probably keep us in the Premier League. Is he a long term solution, probably not, in which case he should be discarded as we need stability and a manager who will be at the club for at least 5 years.

Director of Football. There is nothing wrong with this model as long as there are strict lines in place stating who carries out what role. However, a lot of managers these days want to go back to the 'Old Fashioned' set up so we as a club might need to amend our current structure to attract the best candidate.

If I was Ellis Short I would pick up the phone to Sir Alex Ferguson and ask him to consult on restructuring the club to try and get the right infrastructure in place.

At this stage I have no idea who will make the nest appointment and I will, even if it is Big Sam, back them as I have done all previous.

Finally, as others have stated, whoever comes in needs to look at our U21 squad and start integrating them into the first team. Robson at LB, Gooch and Watmore are all pushing and should just be fully blooded.

Great call mate bally and super key!! Don't think Mr short will have the balls to do it though.

i have been reading a lot of posts on different sites and local papers about our next managerial appointment and their seems to be a lot of people suggesting names for the next manager on us being already relegated. if we were in the same situation as last season with a handful of games to play and needing someone in like big sam to sort us out and save us I would totally agree. what we have to look at is the club have only played 8 games this time around and still have 30 games left to play so whoever gets the job they need to be here for 3 seasons at least so the decision by short needs to be important and right have his total backing that no one interferes in his position and has a say in whoever the club brings in. chelsea have had a nightmare start to the season and people are writing them off from winning the league but the club and fans have belief in their manager and team that by the end of the season they will be challenging for the title. you can't compare us to chelsea but what we need at the club is the same belief that with the right appointment of manager we can move up the table we have a good goalkeeper the best midfield we have had at the club for a long time the forwards are there who can score goals as they have shown so far this season not only by the ones they have scored but also by the chances we have created which might total more than what we created last season we have defenders who for some reason are having a nightmare compared to how they finnished the season so the positives are there all we need is the right man to come in and find the best tactics that suit our players which I think is the old 4 4 2 system at home and the 4 5 1 away. let's have some positive posts on here lads as i'm sure we will come good if the right man is given the job.

Anyone know anything about this bob Bradley? Apparently he manages in Norway and is currently top of the league. Who ever we get as manager I think he should try and bring Kevin Philips back to us as a coach? Knows the club and what it means to wear the shirt with some pride. God knows why he's at Derby.

{Ed002's Note - Bob Bradley is a very good coach and a really great guy.}

if he did come i'd like him to bring with him his son Michael Bradley Captain of the national team really good leader and skilfull . just what we need!

08 Oct 2015 09:04:32
agree 100% bob as his son would be a great player for us to sign and i'm sure bradley would cut it as a manager in the premiership, if its your post in the sunderland echo and the club do go down the big sam route which I am totally against as I don't like his style of play and can't see myself paying money to watch it I think your idea of him bringing kevin nolen in would be a good idea as he is the type of box to box leader we need on the pitch irrespective of his previous links to newcastle.

08 Oct 2015 21:01:17
Agree gary. Would never had put bob bradly in the frame, but there is the yank connection with short and I have read good reports about the man.
I also couldn't watch big sams football. that's not for me.

09 Oct 2015 00:50:45
NO Gary not my post in the Echo . looks as if big Sam will be given the job till the end of the season according to latest rumours if so we must get behind him . mind itll be boring kick rush football?? personal i'd prefer something long term a young hungry manager who plays the kids and an attacking 4-4-2 system against teams at home . but I fear Short doesn't have that type of ambition or patience or BOTTLE! . again the system at the top of this club is very wrong and until we change that well go through lots of managers and had massive instability at this club . again the fans have been short changed and lied too!

12 Oct 2015 10:31:34
i couldn't agree anymore bob my sons friend works at the sol and he has been saying since his been their the people at the top are all business minded people are employed to make the club run well financially yet non of them have come from a football background and couldn't tell you the difference between a centre half and a centre forward so I fear until we get people in at the top with some idea on football we will be a club in limbo let's hope when short said he was going to sort the club out he starts at the top mate

06 Oct 2015 01:02:17
Hopefully the next coach/manager plays the kids.

Ed, out of the top four or five to take the job, which one do you think would play the U-21s the most?

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea, sorry.}

Robbie stockdale would play them. Top of their league too.

08 Oct 2015 08:54:08
it would be nice to see bobby mate but i'm afraid senior player power is killing our club at the moment and I don't think stockdale would have a chance against them but I would like to think he was one for the future alongside bracewell or phillips but if big sam or whoever gets the job I would like to see stockdale as their assistant to learn the ropes

a few people having a go at short on here and although I can't understand what he is doing with the club if it wasnt for him we wouldn't be a premiership club in fact we would be an average championship club. short has put the club and money in the hands of people he thought who were right for the club but these individuals have let hin down badly. short will never take the reins at the club as he has a business worth billions to run so he needs to scour the market and get the right man in to run the club someone who can work alongside the next manager and have them make joint decisions without any grievances as we gave seen with the last few managers we have had pdc said that when he was manager he asked congerton to bring in players with premiership experiance what did he get 13 players brought in by congerton and di fanti with no experiance between them then we had poyet who wanted and got bridcutt and buckley and when congerton had alderweild almost signed up poyet went behind his back and phoned gis agent and said he wasnt guaranteed first team football the rest is history with him having a good season at southampton on loan and spurs paying a large fee for him and then poyet spitting the dummy out and going above congerton straight ro short to stop the sale of clattermole to stoke. finally advocatt has come out and said that he was told he would have money to spend this summer and he got next to nothing and also stating that some of the signings we made he wouldn't have bought, the club is in a bad state at the moment but hopefully with dick gone and congerton also on his way the club can get sorted and what we need from whoever comes in to replace dick and congerton is unity and the ability to work together if short makes the wrong decisions this time I don't think we will be as lucky as the last 3 seasons and relegation will happen, my choice for manager is dyche a young man who did well to get burnley promoted and with no money to spend he did a good job in the premiership as burnley went down with dignity and although losing his main striker ings he has them sat in 3rd and he won't be far from taking them up again something we might have to do ourselves

Mr Rowell you live in Burnley so that is why you are recommending Dyche.

I want a manager who I can understand what he saying.I could hardly understand Advocaat and I cannot understand Dyche who sounds like Marlon Brando in the Godfather

06 Oct 2015 00:15:46
Perhaps we need a Godfather to sort this mess out lol!

06 Oct 2015 04:11:29
How about a fairy godmother.

06 Oct 2015 12:16:39
doberman we have had keane and oneill pdc and poyet before advocat all speak broken english, we can get someone in who needs an interpretor and it wouldn't bother me as long as the club is run properly and he is strong enough to pick the players wether its from the team who played well in the game on saturday or gives the young players a chance let's hope short makes the right decision whoever it is and its not someone like big sam. as for a fairy godmother bobby didn't your mam tell you they are only fantasy which I sometime think some of our fans live in.
