Debuchy going to Villa, this is a real shame. He would of been a quality signing.

Yes heard that aswell though we have offered more loan money to Arsenal which is complicating the deal! we need a right or left back so hopefully Sam has another one up his sleeve. Its also good to see us signing a goalscoring attacking midfielder at long last!

Scouser friend has told me We are trying to pip West Brom to a loan deal for Jose Enrique. He was right with Borini as per below post.

Scouser friend of mine tells me has heard from a reliable source that Borini will be signing for us and not Inter as the papers would make us believe. Medical booked in for Monday?

My mate in Manchester tells me there are strong rumours circulaiting that Sinclair will join on a season long loan. The rumour is due to the Borini deal finally being called off and should happen in the next 48 hours. Not sure he is the answer if it turns out to be correct.

I have to say that I could not have been more disappointed with the lack of quality transfer activity at our club. After last season I fully expected more quality to of been brought to the club long before now. I know ther is still time but the time wasted in the pursuit of Borini (who is worth nowhere near 14 mil) is nothing short of disgraceful. I fear a season of toil and trouble unless this is addressed imediately! C'mon Gus and demand some quality because if it dosent happen very very soon we are going to be in big trouble.

1.) TOO MUCH NEGATIVITY

Gomez-impact sub, brilliant on the ball and an eye for a pass
Jones-looks solid enough
Vergini-very good at right back
PVA-great attacking but defensively there is work to be done
Rodwell-will be amazing, after a year or 2 he will have doubled his worth
Pantilimon-a more than solid GK
Buckley-quick, direct, knows Poyet and style inside out, could surprise a few

Overall I'd rate our transfer business 7/10, get a solid centre back and Borini or someone of his quality, then 8. 5/10
I'm not disappointed in the slightest, but there is work to be still done

You might disagree but imagine what our squad in general would look like without these players, pathetic

2.) 21 Aug 2014 00:33:08
Though Gus continues to put a brave face on things, he must be as disappointed as we are. None of our key targets were secured, Colback left despite efforts to keep him, Wickham's (who he says is vital to his plans) status is still unresolved, and as time goes by we see more frequent links to poorer quality overseas recruits who all lack the Premier experience that was supposed to be central to the 'new' strategy. Rodwell apart, it has been very disappointing window, and while we are a little stronger in midfield than we were last year we are weaker up front without (why did we not move on from him a month ago?) Borini, and the defence, which was already poor, is now as weak as any in the league. Whether this is because Poyet did not identify enough quality targets, Congerton does not know how to negotiate with clubs and players to get them here, or Short has said he will only permit spending on players that won't come here, the result is the same- another summer of missed opportunities with many players who would have strengthened the squad already gone elsewhere, and no apparent strategy. Reminds us not to build up hopes where Sunderland are concerned, because staggering from crisis to crisis is all we have seen since the brief exhilaration of the Peter Reid years. One game in, not even lost yet, but hard not to feel the familiar gloom descending.

3.) 21 Aug 2014 00:42:22
We fight to keep out of the relegation zone each season, how are we going to attract top quality players? And pay for them?
I think the players that have come in are good solid players that can fit straight into the team and will improve us.
Do you really want to keep on buying anyone from anywhere that happens to own a pair of boots.
We prob still need 7/8 new players to come in! But this will take time to bring in the right sort of player, possibly 2/3 more transfer windows.
We should be targeting more players about 23years old at the top clubs. Done there apprentership but not getting any game time. Safc has a lot to offer them a chance of regular football and a chance to shine. Look how well rose, welbeck and borini did with us

4.) I agree with MrMakem about our transfer business so far.

I'm just concerned that we're already into the season without some key personnel in place and that we're so far down on numbers after all of those that left earlier in the summer.

5.) 21 Aug 2014 21:24:15
Theres till time left!. the last couple hours of the transfer window will be very interesting!. mind still think the Borini transfer saga is ridiculous!. time to move on Gus!

Welcome Big Sam! I for one think this is exactly what we need. He will kick so many of our lazy players up the ass and although I expect our style of play to be less attractive and more direct he has the best chance of anyone to save our premiership status

Kmo

1.) 10 Oct 2015 06:00:50
Totally agree with you mate its what these players have needed for a while now and I hope big Sam will play some of our young kids. So here's to a new email at our club. Come on big Sam!!

2.) 11 Oct 2015 10:19:11
Hammers fan in peace. He will keep you up but it will be ugly, as for playing young kids there is no chance of it happening in the League.
He picked players week in week out that were clearly not fit etc rather than give the youngsters a chance.
Good luck for the season.

3.) 12 Oct 2015 10:18:30
totally agree gerry its one of the reasons I didn't want sam as a manager same as advocaat they are managers who are known for not using youth and I fear deep down for the future of the clubs youth under a manager like sam a bit of a panic appointment by the club who had 2 weeks to discuss the position with other candidates but I think short is like a spoilt kid once he makes his mind up that's it, its either his way or no way and the toys will come out the pram but let's hope for the clubs sake he can at least get one appointment right as he has failed on his previous attempts mainly down to his lack of support for his managers against his players

Need a left back and centre half so what do we do. Sign a right back. UNBELIEVABLE

Kmo

1.) 01 Sep 2015 19:16:38
although I agree we need a cb and lb, we also needed a right back as Jones is suspect as well. glad we got a right back but agree we could of done more.

2.) 01 Sep 2015 19:35:34
Jones can also play left back, I guess the thinking is have another right back and he can shift there.

3.) 01 Sep 2015 19:41:29
Alonso would have been my choice.

can't see how this new lad will shore up that defence. Its got more leeks in it than me granda,s allotment.

4.) 01 Sep 2015 19:56:04
Well FTM, You were wrong and so was i. You said we might get rid of four deadwoods and I had a wish list of ten. In the end none went.

We should have made them more appealing to other clubs. Like offering something as a bonus to go with them.

Like, buy liam bridcutt and you get to shag ellis shorts wife!

Or, buy will buckly and you get to shop at b&m,s for nought.

How bout, if you buy roberge you get to be sticky vickys assistant for the night.

Borini is not the answer to our problems. He is selfish on the ball and certanly not prolific. His salary will be huge and in my opinion would be better spent elsewhere.

Kmo

1.) 14 Aug 2015 16:27:48
Borini gives us something we haven't got. A strker who can actually strike a ball!

31 May 2015 12:05:14
Armin Veh now strongly linked. Have you seen his managerial record? It is shocking and he has been sacked more times than anyone I know. Shake your head SAFC and sort it out NOW.

Oh NO!!! Shaun Dyche backed into favourite for manager job. Where is the ambition. Guess another season of struggle is looming.

Kmo

1.) 30 May 2015 21:21:17
I really hope that doesn't happen.

2.) 30 May 2015 23:38:29
Sean Dyche is a good manager he had no money at Burnley and did really well with very limited resources give him money and he would do decent I guess. However I would rather have Phillip Cocu

3.) 31 May 2015 00:17:16
And also offering Anthony Revellier a new contract?/unbelievable . this is Lee Congerton again he should go!

Totals agree with largey and FlamingGinja. Our Transfer activities is poor to say the least and still we wait for Borini at the rediculous Fee of 14 Mill. Sort it out Gus and soon!
