PDC lost the players and then the fans and if he had stayed in charge, Sunderland would have been down by Christmas. Poyet was a gamble by Short and with 31 games left has had plenty of time to turn things around. He has failed big time. In hindsight, Tony Pullis could have pulled you away from bottom as i'm sure Sunderlands squad is far superior to Palaces and he has pulled them away. My mate, season ticket holder, says ` at least we beat Toon twice and went to wembley` what's that all about? Surely staying in Premier League would be a better season? I for one will miss the Derbies, win or lose, and who knows when they will be back, if of course Sunderland don't survive. Can anyone tell me why Adam Johnson, only creative player and goalscorer in side, is left on the bench? Strange tactics when the lad can change a game, as he has proved recently but to no avail because it is always too late. Good luck in the battle to stay up but I fear Poyets tactics and game plans will see sunderland lose their premier league status.

1.) Fair comment faircomment i'm sure most sunderland fans and city fans will agree a. j is a better player coming off the bench for some reason he can't do it for 90mins. as for being relegated by xmas under pdc I think you might be right on that one. not down to his managerial skills but man management he lost the dressing room and what an easy way to get your manager to get sacked don't perform on the field if i'm right on my theory then those early season games could be the ones that have us in the position we are in now and if so shame on those players. also I think you could be spot on about pullis he might have been the one to keep us up who knows anyway if we go down I think it will be a while before we have a derby mate

Poyet is saying he wants to bring " quality " in to the club in January. Fair enough, good statement. SO why are some of his players at Brighton being linked? Poyet`s biggest problem is lowering the wage bill with all the rubbish that Paula brought in, even though he denies it all, they may not be on massive wages but it all adds up. Big players got to London or Manchester.

Lets not bury your heads in the sand lads. Against Newcastle it was your cup final, you won and wanted it more so fair enough. Now Poyet is playing the same lads who nearly got you relegated, O`Shea, Cattermole, Bardsley, Larsson, Gardner, Cruella, Johnson are championship standard at best. Di Canio wanted to change it but these easy living parasites got him out. Poyet? Same will happen to him. I for one, do not want you relegated as I think the banter between the fans is, more often than not, good craic. The biggest problem with the big squad you have, will be offloading the rubbish who are on stupid wages. Good Luck.

1.) Usual dull patronising mag clap trap but there's a germ of sense here. Surely we have better players than those playing. I can't figure poyet out at the moment as he seems to be pretty switched on tactically and motivationally. I absolutely am not criticising Poyet, I just can't figure out what's going on in his head.

2.) In my opinion, I think you should have never have sacked PDC.

You were playing good football, on another day you would of got 4 points from the arsenal and Fulham games.

He was strict, but he got determination, fitness and passion out of your players, he bought in 14 new players and only had 5 games to prove himself which is ridiculous.

Apparently short sacked him because the players were making "complaints" about him, because he is strict etc. PDC is very much like marmite, you either love him or you hate him, but the way I see it, players like bardsley, Johnson, gardner, cuellar just too lazy, or "not Man enough" if you like. Yes you will get players like them, but you don't sack the manager because of them. I bet you if we were in January/February an you still had PDC, most of your players will be used to him and will see the other side of the coin and will want to play for him.

I like his strictness and coaching style. I think the premier league needs more managers like him who aren't afraid to give players like bardsley a kick up the backside. It's managers like him that can make British players more determined and would be good for academy's, as there's too many youth players that are English that are just so lazy and would rather play Xbox than do extra training.

Just my thoughts anyway

3.) I liked him and his methods to a certain point, fitness yes, but
No tomato sauce, no smiling, no laughing, telling everyone that they are not good enough, ridiculing people in front of the entire squad, you might as well tell them to play naked its that embarrassing

He expected the up most of his players which is good, but he thought he was God

If Wigan turn Arsenal over then Sunderland are relegated. A massive game like this today and when the team needed the supporters behind them, loads of empty seats AND worse of all fans leaving early. what's that all about? Its Sunderland or Wigan, squeaky bum time.

1.) Qpr had nowt to play for

2.) Sorry, but your wrong, Sunderland have 4 points more than Wigan, if they beat Arsenal they are still below us, you are maybe a tad overexcited. {Ed024's Note - I think the first poster is assuming Wigan beat Villa in the their last game and Sunderland lose to Spurs.}

3.) SGBS trying to be funny, you only beat QPR because bosingwa felt sorry for you, who is to say we won't get anything at spurs eh? done it before! anything can happen in football loser!

4.) If you play like you did against southampton today then bale will destroy you. they still have champions league to play for.

5.) Yes but well get nothing against Spurs!

6.) Arsenal have champions league to play for as well spurs was a good result today now arsenal must win both games

7.) All this bitching and forecasting is completely meaningless. Both teams have been s*** this whole season, and both clubs need to get cracking in the transfer market, both ins and outs. We've survived by the skin of our teeth, you lot have a few days of worry ahead of you, but neither set of fans is in any position to gloat.

I find it quite sad that after a fantastic win away at Everton, ALL you can talk about is the Ref at Newcastles game. Obsessed?

Everything will become very positive after january transfer window? How? Sunderland going to have a squad of 70? Need to get some off the wage bill first and let's face it, who is going to take any of the players?
