So Borini played for Liverpool today (dodgy) and his agent says he wants to stay at the scoucers (even more dodgy). I hope everyone hasn't counted their chickens before they have hatched!
Look, he was a good player for us last season but is 7 goals really enough return for 14million, and which half were pens, I for one don't think so. I like the lad but I do think there are better more prolific strikers out there which 14million would be a snip.
If we do get Borini, however, we really need to sign some more creative attacking midfield to compliment his style and maybe he can prove me wrong. let's hope so.
1.) I'm 50/50 with this
If we are paying 14m for him to play as a left Midfeild he is not worth it, but if he is to play up front he is completely worth it, he is so dangerous in the box, he scored in 1 in 5 shots and a lot of them shots were from outside the box
Not to mention we were 20th for most of the season
As a striker, he would get us +15goals a season, but if he is a winger I would prefer us to get someone like that Rodriquez fella from Atletico Madrid that we are looking at

I know were after alonso but with Tottenham in for the swansea left back where does that leave danny rose?
3.) Borini has refused to come to Sunderland. He wants to earn himself a place in the Liverpool side. I honestly think we should move on as e has said he doesn't want to come twice. So try and go for another striker. He ain't worth 14 mill tbh. Any thoughts on other strikers?
4.) There's also been talk from them that he does want to come & is pushing the deal through, I don't believe either, also he scored 10 for us, 7 in the league 3 in the league cup.
As for the 14mil, it's supposed to be a lot lower with lots of extras added on paid back over a few years which isn't as bad, if he scores another 10-15 this season he'll be more than worth it.
That being said, he's not the only winger/striker in the world & there's only so much time left before the season, hopefully we've a plan b & c never mind d, e & f.

Is Toronto want Altidore, why not do a deal to fetch Defoe to SAFC. He has experience and knows where the goal is and could be the poacher we so desperately need.

All though I was generally pleased with an away point on Saturday, I felt we again didn't do enough when we were in the ascendancy to finish the job off. We score and then sit deeper and deeper allowing the opposition to pass the ball around and grow in confidence. We should have attacked, attacked attacked and left them completely shell shocked. This is something Gus must address if we are to kick on.
Transfer wise, I still feel we have dwindled on the Borini saga far too long with other targets probably put off because of this. Why put all your eggs in 1 basket? A centre half is a must, ( Micah Richards for me), A out and out goal scorer and maybe someone with a bit of flare to excite th long suffering Supporters.

Or a point against a team as poor as we are, using a system Gus believes and we would all like to see, except that we don't have players with sufficient technique to play it. If you want to play out from the back, you need players at the back who can control the ball confidently, either run with it without losing it or pass accurately as the opportunity presents, and rapidly get back into position if possession is lost. So which of our back line can do any of those things regularly? There is some hope that VA might learn to, but the rest will have to be replaced or the system changed to the more familiar 'backs to the wall/ boot it anywhere' formation these players can sometimes execute competently.

Why is everyone obsessed with Borini? Yes he is a decent player but he is not outstanding. I remember getting beat at home off Wet Ham and he didn't look interested plus half his goals were penalties and he doesn't seem to want to come so MOVE ON. We did the same with Rose and Evans. Players come on loan so that their parent clubs can see what they are all about. It is rare they actually don't go back. Get a grip SAFC fans, we should stop getting obsessed with these players. The club should start to buy good players so that we can get behind them!
1.) Totally agree but we will probably chase him until a few days before the window shuts realize he dosen't want to come and then end up panic buying someone who will warm the bench or play naughts n crosses with jozy he did help pull us out of the s*%t but he's no kevin phillips
2.) Borini is class never stops, gives 100%, rather pay 10 mill for Fab than 15 mill for Sow as that's what his club values him at
3.) They value him at €12m, not £'s

I see Ashley Williams has signed a new 4 year contract at Swansea and Diego Poyet is having a medical at West Ham. We need to start making progress in this transfer window or we are going to struggle again. Defo need top quality striker, midfield play maker and left/right backs. A new centre half and a decent winger. I like the look of that French lad and if he has been offered to us, snap their hands off and mek sharp about it!!
I see you've done your homework!! Williams? And just because Babatunde has put out all the "I want to move to Sunderland" rumours, doesn't mean you have to believe him!!
