Looks like Micah Richards is off to Villa. Shame he might have done a decent job for us. He's from Birmingham so no surprise he wants to go back there.
Just hoping that we didn't offer him £90k a week, as reported in The Sun. For that amount (even on a free transfer) we'd want someone we KNEW was upto demands of the EPL. Richards wasn't first choice at Fiorentina and was used predominately as 'cup' player. Given that the teams that were 4th and 5th bottom seemed the only clubs keen on him probably shows there are more than a few doubts about him making the grade. We don't need another Rodwell.

Would be a shame to see him go to a club in and around us season after season. We need to be the ones after names like that to make sure we aren't in a relegation battle again

Seems a little far fetched paying 2mill with no option to buy and paying his wages in full. Granted he did well at west ham but it's going to be down to weather he would even want to come

He would be a good signing if we had the option to buy next summer. He had a good loan spell at West Ham and is still playing for England u21's.
We need the option to buy though or we will be going through the same process every season looking for players in the same position!

Cant help thinking we are a too thin upfront. Wickham, Fletcher, Altidore - on current form one of the weakest set of forwards in the EPL.

Apparently reports from Italy say we've signed Argentine international midfielder Ricky Alvarez for intial loan and a view permanent transfer for £10 million! . mind we've been linked with everyone lately so ill believe it when that fat lady starts singing and shes gone missing a lot lately!

Unless we pull something out of the bag very late we'll end up with no forward and no keeper - is it just me or is that the two positions that were the greatest priority?
It's not as if the striker issue is new - left it too late and it could cost us.

Looks like no striker hope late deal can go through not great news otherwise. Especially when we have needed someone since the end of last season. Ah yes let's blame the FA for our incompetence in the transfer market and our recruitment strategy.

It's all just rumours but if Moyes does sell Kone to Everton for £18M and thinks he can appease the fans with McNair and Love from Man Utd, then before a game is played I think the time bomb will be ticking. What is happening in the transfer market . Papy Unpronoucable is in as a squad player (£8M - really! ) and the the support for Defoe - potentially a 30 year old who couldn't score enough to stop Norwich getting relegated (Naismith) . As I said its all just rumour and I could have this wrong but does Moyes realise that the squad we seem to be going into this season with is weaker than last seasons?

How do the BBC justify putting Sunderland on Match of the Day last again.
I don't think you can argue with the order of the first three games given the teams involved are challenging at the top of the league but. . .
Everton v Liverpool - snore nil nil draw on 5th.
And two games with only one goal shown 4th and 6th.
I've had enough of the bias - I'll have an early night and watch the highlights of the game on Sky tomorrow.
The rest of the Sunderland fans gave up on the BBC long ago ....strangely of the 5 London clubs featured, 4 are shown in the first 4 games .....but there's no London bias !!!!!

1.) If you have SKY why don't you do what I do. Watch the game on the Red Button at 10' which is BEFORE MOTD starts. You can watch MOTD on Sunday Morning if you want to see the other matches. There has always been a North/ South bias so the only way out is for Sunderland to score goals and win.

Young's problem at Manchester United was the same one Adam Johnson had at Man City - not enough time on the pitch to get into a run of good form.
Its one thing to feel aggrieved - another to get the decision overturned - no club complained when they became aware and it appears he was always registered with the EPL, he just wasn't registered with FIFA for drug testing. It will take a fortune to sue - the clubs involved will have neither the resources or probably more importantly the time to get any action completed before the deadline for the new season.

Straightswap - no money changing hands - that why we can afford to pay him what he wants.
I'd keep Altidore, I think it could have been a very different season for him if his goal against Arsenal wasn't wrongly disallowed. Holds the ball up well, has a great touch for a big lad - remember the flick through for Colback when AJ scored against Newcastle. He also won a very important penalty against Chelsea. If we were prepared to persist with Whickham then I see no reaon why we won't do the same with Alts.
9 out of 11 - not bad given the number of changes. Keen to see Watmore get on. Big game for Giaccherini - needs to graft and show his class.
That's set a marker - Altidore and Fletcher put huge shifts in. There were two big differences for me. Firstly we showed real grit all over the pitch and secondly we made far less mistakes than we have been doing. Will give the team a huge lift, a win against Hull and we're back.
