So, Advocaat out after today's game and welcome Nigel Pearson. Be the right move. Congerton going too. Whey hey. Early Christmas present.

All the right moves so far shipping out some on loan and a few good solid signings. Borini once match fit will give us something extra. A great signing for me. Now the defence needs shoring up. Strange because our defence wasn't too bad last year. I still don't see Kaboul being better than Vergini although I concede he wasn't brilliant but what he gave you was versatility in that he could play centre or full back. Surely better than Jones. Our weak link is certainly the full back positions and they have to be a priority. What has happened to Revierre ( spelling ) is he injured or gone?

revilliere? was released

2.) 01 Sep 2015 15:40:16
Looking at how bad pva has been it wouldn't be a bad call to re-sign revilÄÂșiere if we don't get a lb by six tonight.

Dobermann have you ever played football or watched Wickham for that matter. He is an under performer who is Championship quality. I doubt he will get much of a look in at Palace. I would definitely employ his agent though. The man is a genius the way he has orchestrated new contracts and transfers

1.) 02 Aug 2015 18:33:05
Agree with that championship player at best for Wickham Pardew must be round the bend paying that fee? hope it goes through

2.) 02 Aug 2015 18:49:12
I must admit I would have liked to have seen whickam given a run of games as the main striker, he would still have been the last of the current four at the club I'd have sold.

3.) 02 Aug 2015 21:11:40
connor wickham is crap for a big lad I have never seen anyone knocked off the ball so easy he should give the game up and get himself on these celebrity shows he goes down well knocking around with them on holiday and splashing thousands of pounds on bottles of champagne I just hope his deal doesn't fall through

4.) 02 Aug 2015 22:29:23
altidore was bigger than wickham and fell off smaller people every time

5.) 03 Aug 2015 12:54:25
If we stuck with Wickham as our main striker we would go down, out of his depth in the prem, looks like he can't be arsed every time he played, glad he's going let palace waste their time and money on the lazy sod

6.) 03 Aug 2015 17:59:11
poi2311 why bring up antidore? they are both crap you have just tried to defend a poor wickham by comparing him to an even poorer altidore? where is the logic. would happily see fletcher or graham go as well in a perfect world both but can't see that happening

7.) 03 Aug 2015 23:10:50
You should see the comments off Palace fans at Wickams arrival! they are almost asking for Pardesw head! I can't belive the price we got for him . I just hope we use the money wisely!

8.) 04 Aug 2015 07:27:54
Wickham reminded me of that other donkey. Lee Chapman. No pace. No skill. No brain and fall down like autumn leaves.

9.) 04 Aug 2015 17:14:57
Will be happy with Fer and Mvilla if we can get them across line but am I the only person who doesn't expect us to sign another striker? Can't see Fletcher or Graham leaving as no one else will match their wages and Dick said Wickham was sold as we had too many strikers. Would love to be wrong but if we get the 2 midfielders over the line I'll be happy with our business

10.) 04 Aug 2015 17:49:20
beansafc I wasn't defending wickham just making a point that altidore was nocked off the ball easier than wickham. they both rubbish.

11.) 04 Aug 2015 22:34:31
Ftm was replying to you poi not me,i was makin a general point about Wickham

30 Jul 2015 19:33:16
Wickham on his what to Palace. So much for a knock! Best news I've heard for several years. Let someone else waste their money.

1.) 31 Jul 2015 07:24:44
being a season ticket holder and a regular away follower I can honestly say I would drive him to palace myself,no pace terrible first touch no real aggression not good in the air good bye and good luck to palace!!oh and thank you mr pardew, lol

2.) 31 Jul 2015 07:46:34
reading some news articles this morning trying to big wickham up with his 'pace, power and great first touch'. Which player they watch is beyond me. Great bit of business in my eyes especially if we are getting our money back in the deal. Hopefully buckley will be off to leeds and bridcutt and either fletcher or graham will go. Make room for quality.

30 Jul 2015 12:37:09
Do you really think Wickham would have made any difference whatsoever? At the moment we are going into the next season with 2 new signings. Yes TWO! And the same forward line more or less. Bye bye premier league. At least Wickham will be playing at the correct level next season.

Lessthan88

1.) 30 Jul 2015 15:11:45
lens, Kaboul and Matthews makes three pal? four if you count Coates being made permanent but defiantly three! chin up

2.) 01 Aug 2015 06:02:09
Jordan Rhodes and moussa sow are being lined up as a replacement to him. Sow will get you 10-15 goals a season can play left wing and striker. Rhodes unproven in the prem but a goal machine in the championship. At the same time Blackburn have just let gustede go so would be a high price for Rhodes. Would still be in the market for that creative midfielder and if we can get Buckley off the books if frees up a lot of wages.

Keep wasting your hard earned wages lads. You know you will buy your tickets for West Ham next week. Then don't complain after the defeat. Vote with your feet. Advocaat needs to go now and enjoy his not so well earned retirement. We can't wait too long for big Sam. It will be too late by Christmas. Looks like that new hotel will be a big white elephant. Can't see the corporates coming when we are home to MK Dons. Believe it because it's coming. Get your heads out of the sand and send the club a message. Vote with your feet next week and use your hard earned cash on taking your loved one out for a drink or nice meal. Surely money well spent instead of lining the pockets of Advocaat, Congerton and inadequate players. Go on, just for one week.

Another abject display plus can't understand DA s team PVA should have been dropped weeks ago!. put him in the U21s!same with Kaboul! why give Brown a years contract when he doesn't PLAY! and why AGAIN ignore the likes of Watmore and Gooch?? i'm losing faith in DAs ability to pick change aside paticullaly 4-3-3 which isn't working! Short can't wait till Christmas to make a decision!

2.) 27 Sep 2015 06:03:13
Another poor performance OK it was Manchester United but come on. How long does Mr short need or is he planning on nxt season in the championship? We need big Sam now before November and these Christmas fixtures or we will go down.

3.) 28 Sep 2015 20:23:44
big sam you must be having a laugh his style of play or should I say his lack of a style of play makes him a complete none starter in my eyes. if we are going to change managers then viera would be the ideal candidate, someone with balls who will not only tell these players that are prancing around like over paid prima donna's that they are not good enough.

at least he will have the balls not to pick them. also he is doing a good job with the young lads at man city so hopefully if the papers are right and we do get him in as our new manager we might see some of the young lads given a chance they deserve.

4.) 29 Sep 2015 10:43:35
Style of play?what style of play have we been playing for the last three season's plus, this isn't about pretty football it's simply survival again,I haven't seen any decent football by sunderland home or away for God knows how long,I think a reality checks in order one Gary Rowell!

5.) 29 Sep 2015 18:58:52
I normally agree with one gary rowell but on Viera definitely not.I am old school and remember when this disgusting piece of work was jumping up over a ruck of players to spit at an opponent. people like that don't change.

6.) 29 Sep 2015 19:43:39
chops, I totally agree we haven't been playing any style of football for the last three seasons and like I have said on previous posts going back to poyet as manager. poyet and dick have their own style of football they would like to have been able to play but we don't have the calibre of players to do that.

as for big sam, I wouldn't waste my money paying to watch what he serves up effective as it is you only have to look at the decent job he did at west ham yet the fans wanted him out due to his tactics which by the way might suit the rubbish we have at the moment. as for viera, chris I disagree. I bet you were one of the thousands of us who were over the moon with the appointment of roy keane, who I think had he been given the backing instead of the falling out with ellis short have done a good job for the club. but this is the same keane who deliberately set out to lame haaland and finished his career a lot worse than viera.

what I am saying is we need someone in charge who has the balls to drop players who are not good enough and to give the kids a chance as most football now a days is all about pace and the chance to run at people, which we have seen gooch and what more do to good effect.

I am a realistic and don't follow the club expecting a top ten finnish but what I do expect is passion and commitment which we are not getting last week in the cup against man city and the league game against Manchester United I didn't expect us to get anything from the game so if I was manager giving some of the young lads a start to see how good they actually are, because to be honest they can't have done any worse lads. sorry about the long post but I get passionate about the club I have followed for over 40 years and its annoying me to see the way the club is going

Accurate analysis. Now that's how you do it!!!!

Lessthan88

26 Sep 2015 08:05:37
GN, I can honestly say that I disagree with about 90% of your analysis and am struggling to think how you justify the other 10%. It's summed up with the final comment and the use of the word ' hopefully ' it doesn't matter one jot if we look good going forward if we are playing a system that leaves us totally exposed at the back. Now that is the fault of the manager who chooses the system we play and that is the problem. You are hanging on to your rose tinted glasses in my opinion and if the same system is employed today I predict a comfortable 3 - 0 victory to Man Utd. I (hope) I am wrong but the use of the word ' hope ' is probably better used in this context.

Lessthan88

1.) 28 Sep 2015 10:07:20
Can you be more specific about the 90% you disagree with? I see nothing there that is not fact about managers selecting poor players for Congerton to sign, the core of the squad being the same poor quality overpaid players that have been there for 4-5 years that we can't get off our books, the new players being better quality than what we had already and the fact that we are a relegation battling team that is an unattractive option when trying to sign new players.

I also state the same as you that Dick has a formation that leaves us exposed at the back.

So please clarify which 90% points you disagree with?

Thanks

2.) 28 Sep 2015 11:51:22
To be brief, all your positives, your comments on Advocaat and Congerton as one is past it and the other an abject failure, your comments on the quality players we have signed. I for one am waiting to see it on the pitch and your conclusion. That's about 90% I would say.

3.) 28 Sep 2015 16:31:43
I realise that this is all about opinions so we the fans may differ but from my side I'm afraid you are too negative. Last year Dick was our saviour, the same as Gus and PDC the seasons before. Funny how quick our fans turn and he's suddenly passed it as you state! People asking for Big Sam (Football by numbers) is a step in the wrong direction as well IMO.

Congerton to me is hard to judge as you have no idea who he has tried to sign, who has turned us down, who he was told to sign and so on. I therefore find it hard to put so much blame and criticism at his door. He may well be useless but I point the fingers towards scouts, managers past and present, and coaching before I look to him!

I also struggle to see how you can query some of the new players, M'Vila in particular, being better quality than what we had already? We might not be performing on the pitch yet but you can see they have more about them than last years crop.

My concern is Watmore. On fire in the U21's, singled out by England U21's as stand out performer and Dick won't play him. I'd have him straight in instead of Johnson and have him, Lens and Borini terrorising defences. We could then tell our full backs to try defending first! If we don't play him when he is in this type of form why would he sign a new deal to stay with us? This I do despair at!

Like I say, we all have our own views and I disagree with yours 90% the same as you do mine :-)

23 Sep 2015 07:01:18
I seem to remember people were calling for Defoe to get an England call up not long ago and I got criticised for saying that was ridiculous. I rest my case!!
As for last night, it was awful and it goes without saying that we are playing a style of football that does not suit the players. How is it that other clubs can play with wing backs and still defend? We obviously don't have the players to do that and need to change the formation to block up the game to at least try and get a point in the next league game. If Dick can't or won't change his approach ( and I totally agree with the comments on Whatmore ) then he should hang up his managerial jacket and retire to Holland to be with his wife. Get hold of Sam and pay him what he wants to keep the club up. If they wait too long it will be too late as McLaren will be gone by Christmas and he will be back up the road.

Can anyone explain to me why we put Vergini out on loan and then sign Kaboul. Vergini wasn't that bad and without doubt better than Kaboul. Why do we always seem to get some players who are worse than ones we sell or loan out? I'm no expert but certainly am confused.

Lessthan88

1.) 20 Sep 2015 00:06:53
The Main problem with Vergini was he used to play his way out of the back four but I agree he looks a world beater compared to Kaboul and Coates. looks like a long hard season for us!

2.) 20 Sep 2015 02:12:33
Coates is consistently THE WORST player on the pitch. Yes, Kaboul didn't play well, but to me a lot of his troubles were from Coates being caught out of position. Play Brown and O'Shea! Better than the mugs we've got. Play the kids! Anyone but Coates and Kaboul. I wouldn't give Coates another chance in the first team. Absolute crap.

3.) 21 Sep 2015 16:38:44
Vergini playing the ball out of defence. Since when is that a problem. Chelsea want to pay 40 mill for a player that does that.

Do sunderland center halves have to aim for row z.

If I wanted to watch that type of football I would go to wimbledon afc.

FTM. Yes professional experience tells me that and in any event I would expect his contract to be terminated should he be found guilty as we would struggle to justify employing a registered sex offender and rightly so.
