Saw that tottenham need a clearout to fund new players which in my opinion are top quality players which would only serve to enhance our squad- players like dawson sandro dembele townsend. I know all will be demanding a decent wage but at some point sunderland have to decide there direction. Do they continue with the transfer policy under di canio where they sign randoms with no PL experience and it continued under Gus when he signed Scocco for 4 million. Weve missed out on so many decent players and richards is just another example.

2.) Played off the pitch today. Fortunate draw. Wickham is a striker, and a lot better than Fletcher, why not play him there. Gomez needs to start. Yes mr mackem, we need defenders. Rodwell looked like a boy against men. Another long long season. Bollox!
3.) Yehh mate just need to make a statement and buyy players with premierleague experience that will make a difference in games like we had today. Roberge was completely out of his depth and should have scored aswell. Wesley is a class act and should partner o shea; we need options at the back but I thought on the whole today we did OK. Larson offers very little in the middle with set peices being his supposed strong point and we never score from set pieces.

yes Gus got it wrong with the back four! and again with Vergini and Jones out we were threbare at the back and would have played Larsson at rb rather than Brown Rodwell looked unfit hopefully he can produce the goods when fit!. but I suppose playing badly and getting a point is good! hopefully by next Sunday well have some signings and our defenders fit!
5.) Proof we need more signings. We have no depth. Vergini is not a star player, but if we lose him for a match or two due to a knock and this is all we have we're in trouble.

We pulled of a draw today at a ground where we do not have the best of records. having had the softest penalty I have ever seen given against Roberge who fair enough wasn't great today nor do I ever expect him to be but looked better than when he first arrived.
Look at the positives for god sake.
Mannone continues to look a class act.
We are scoring goals from midfield.
Even Catts has enough confidence to shoot from 30 yards.
We have Fletcher fit again.
Wickham is willing to play on the wing witch shows commitment.
There is method in the madness here. By playing Wickham, Fletcher, Larrson and AJ it allows us to revert to 4-4-2 when needed which showed effective at times today.
they are in no means the finished article but for christ sake give them a few games before we all turn bitter. God

Haven't heard sean Dyche linked with any other clubs in the recent months, If we survive in the prem he should be the first name on the list. Young, Hungry, determined, English- exactly what sunderland need. he's also someone who can get the most out of average players- which sunderland seem to have a lot of!!!

We need to think long and hard in the close season about a new manager and make sure we get the right person ! .I hear Whatmore is training with the first squad so should a few other youngsters !.good to see Johnston back in training why suspend him when he hasn't been charged yet ??. mind his head might not be right . we need to use pacy wingers against West Ham and give Defoe some service !
2.) I still think we should have given Kevin ball and bracewell the job- know the club inside out- footballing people- will listen to the players and will identify are shortfall- which there is a lot of. Johnson coming in is a bold move but court hearings can take months so might aswell use him while we are waiting for the result.

Agree Banter City with that comments its a MASSIVE gamble bringing an unknown manager with no Premiership experience at all !. I think Johnson should have been released earlier from his ban but I understand the reasons why the club were hesitating on that issue ! I just hope Short gets this decision right if not its his head on the block !

fantastic point today, some people said man u weren't very good but made them look poor. We stayed compact and I thought cattermole was outstanding an van aanholt learnt from valencias assist that he has no left foot and would try and do that every time so was good to see him learning from his mistakes. I have no clue why gomez is even near the football pitch he is absolute litter and the only plus I can see from haing him there is that we can rest our first teamers in cup games and play him. But we need to build on what we have we've shown we hae a half decent starting 11 but strength and depth is key! Saw poyet hugging hernadez after the game and having a word and ignored everyone else so being a hopeful supporter could a bid be imminent??
1.) I hugged my mother this morning but talks over a permenant switch haven't been positive.

Gus still has time to address the issues concerned, however like everyother fan around the country- it is nice to just have a few cheeky rumours floating around which makes things more interesting and exciting. Thank goodness the borini one is over and we can move onto players that might be worth their valuation!

Ok maybe borini is over valued right now but he is a player that Gus knows and that could fit straight into the team. A young player with regular football under Gus would see his value increase greatly

Just seen that Bruce wants danny rose next season, why isn't poyet in for him? He won our player of the season when he was on loan and is a lot more athletic and offers a lot more than alonso who was turned inside out when he came up against a pacey winger. And 14 million for borini is an absolute joke for a player who should be worth 8 million tops. Unless sunderland pull their finger out we will definitly be bottom at christmas with no chance of survival!

proper ray of sunshine you are mate,I think the fact we have offered the amount we have is a statement of intent,if he does not come then we will have a plan B,if we finish around 10th with no sign of a great escape then it will have been a good season.I really like Alonso but would have Rose back if Alonso does not come off.
2.) If we can I'd have Rose and Alonso. It would be good to have competition and Rose also offers an option in left midfield/wing.
3.) Largey 10th would be an unbelievable season with the squad we have and just seen that darren fletcher may be availble- going after quality would be a statement of intent rather than showing we can offer big money for average playerss.

I think we are in some serious trouble next season if we do not add to our squad, billy jones is a sidewards step in an attempt to replace bardsley- which was the right decision to let go judging by his performance against swansea. I feel we have no cover at centre back and we have nothing creative in midfield with larson being average at best and jordi gomez is a player who will float around without doing much, and is out defence strong enough to accomodate a 'flair' player- no. Unless there is some truth in the banega story and if we get gomis we would have a good chance of reaching 10th. Colback was one of our brightest prospects rarely gave the ball away had a decent touch and could play left back and then we go offer larson a 3 year deal- madness!

Everyone loves as young, hungry player with potential- but I think the lads above are just stating our obvious lack of firepower, let just hope the board have one eye on the present aswell as the future.
The thing is lemon chops we need a squad of players with premier league experience not just first 11!! If one of those players you mentioned above gets injured or suspended we have some serious problems.

Chris- Cattermoles mentality and overall ability has improved significantly in recent seasons and there was a reason at the start of the season Poyet was saying he should be in the England Squad. If you look at the other midfielders in the side, larson and gomez- who are 2 of the wettest footballers yourll ever see. Larson can sometimes take a good free kick and corner but how many goals has he created scored recenetly? Gomez resembles are card board cut out and how can Catts be expected to cover these waste of space footballers? He is the only midfielder we've got that can make a tackle, and his desire and passion is a fantastic trait for the youngsters coming through to observe!!!! I can't imagine too many people looking at O'shea and thinking wow what a leader- I want to try my hardest for him!!! Name me another player chris you would rather have as captain?
